Spec V won't start

Hey guys…haven’t been on here for a while but I was wondering if anybody could help me out

Ok so it all started Friday morning…got outside and snow all over my car…tried to start it and it wouldn’t start…turned on the lights to see if it was maybe the battery and noticed the dome light in the car was very dim…tried to start it again with the lights on and the dome light isn’t dim anymore but the car still didn’t start

So I go to work that day and come home and the snow on my car has melted…tried to start it and it starts up…when I started it I noticed a loud squeek…sounded like it was coming from the alternator…shut it off and try to start it up again and fires up…hear the squeek again but as not as loud…do it again and no more squeek

So I woke up this morning and the car started fine…drove it around for a couple of km’s and still no problems…car sounds fine…did not notice any issues with the idle being lower or anything

So go out for dinner and when I come out the car doesn’t start…lights aren’t turning and the starter doesn’t even make any clicking sounds…try to boost the car from some guys in the parking lot but the car still doesn’t start…the lights and everything turn on and the starter clicks when I try to start it but just doesn’t start

Anybody have any ideas of what could be wrong?

Thanks in advance

PS. Sorry about the long post

could be your actual starter. or bad alternator and isnt charging your battery, the squeaks can possibly be your belts as they will squeak when old.
what yr? im assuming you dont have warranty or you wouldn’t be asking on here.

My car’s an 03 with 60,000 km’s…I was thinking it was the alternator too but I just found it weird how it didn’t start on Friday morning and it somehow charged itself and started again later that day…I guess I’ll just take it to Nissan and I’ll see what they say

My money’s on the starter. The clicking is my clue. The same thing happened to me on my old Integra. It even showed the same symptoms of working occasionally, and failing occasionally. Then it just gets to the point where it’s done for good.

When it doesn’t want to start, can you hear the fuel pump turn on?

I can only hear the fuel pump if I am trying to boost it with another car…other than that if it’s not connected to another car and I try to start it won’t even click or anything

if absolutely nothing works, then its 99% battery is dead. and that can mean your alternator brushes are not making good contact, and therefor not making electricity to charge your battery. but if you can just turn on your headlights while the car isnt even running, then it can just be your starter, which would explain why everything works(electrically), but your car wont start.

Ok so I just got my car back from the shop. Turned out to be the alternator. The mechanic replaced it and the car is running fine now. He said that the alternator was only giving out 9 volts when it should be giving out 14 volts. The reason the car wouldn’t start even when I was trying to boost it was because the battery was totally dead. He recharged the batter and said it was fine now. I’m still debating on whether or not I should get a new battery because the mechanic said that he tested it and it was ok but I know from past experience that once you drain a battery…it’s never the same anymore. What do you guys think I should do?

x2 they even last when you leave the lights on by accident

yeah I was thinking about those…how much do those usually go for

When I had the spec, the Optima was a life saver. $200 from walmart, gotta pay to play.
