To Sum it all up…

US Spec (KA) 5th Gear: 0.759

JDM Spec (CA) 5th Gear: 0.838

JDM Spec (SR) 5th Gear: 0.759

US Spec (KA) Final Drive Ratio: 4.083

JDM Spec (CA) Final Drive Ratio: 4.363

JDM Spec (SR) Final Drive Ratio: 4.083

Its Myth big guy

who was saying they were any different?

Everybody…

All I know is that my car sucks ass on the highway, 110 and im at 3000rpm

I heard from someone here, and was corrected by the same token, that the ratios are the same but that the tranny’s final drive is lower on the SR tranny.

:dunno:

i never read that?

The Final Drive Refers to the Rearend (Rear Diff)

Jantos you said it yourself dude:

“Yes but the final drive on the SR’s tranny is different than the one on the KA.”

Did you mean the dif that time as well?

This is why I posted this, because I was misinformed…

I was told by many people for a few years now that the 5th gear in SR
Tranny’s as with the Final Drive (Rear Diff) were infact longer due to the
Emissions standards in Japan. They wanted to keep the RPM’s down while
crusing on the highway though clearly that is all BS with these proven numbers.

This also concludes another mith that indeed the KA Speed Sensor and a
SR Speed Sensor are the same. Many people for the longest time who got
SR Motor sets used the KA sensor because they believed the Final Drive
(Rear End) Gear Ratio’s were different which would result in inacurate speed readings.

Understood.

Although, 4.08 seems a bit high to me when you’re running 300+hp. Where’s that J30 ring?

Heh, I’ve got a Q45 if someone wants it … think it’s a 3.7 LSD

What I can’t understand is why Nissan would bother with marginally different ring and pinion sets.

Guess the ca18det was really down on torque or something.

110 @ 3000 … don’t you like 5th gear passing?

What about the R&P for auto cars? It should be lower (numerically)

Nismo offers crazy gearsets for the R200 too … I think they go up to a 5.88:1

ya andy told me to do that but i couldnt get the bolt off the ka so i said STFU and left the sr one and my speedo is fine

i belive the myth comes from the sr20de, i belive if you were to find the final drive for that you would find it to be different…people are easily confused…but then again…i could eb wrong…

Just like all JDM motors having ~60,000km on them… It’s more like ~60,000 miles which is ~100,000km

umm yeah

on the highway in my ca, 5th gear 3000rpm… 106kmph bye bye gas mileage

Just like all JDM motors having ~60,000km on them… It’s more like ~60,000 miles which is ~100,000km[/quote]

adam don’t be a dick, prove me wrong, find the proof, like you just did…and it would make sence, the na sr20de has what 50hp less and god knows how much torque less, it only makes sence it would have a different ratio.
