SR tranny bolt thread gone :S - what to do?

so I had to swap my old tranny to the belhousing of the SR

but as I was unbolting the tranny from the SR…
I noticed that the top right bolt (near the starter) had something between the threads…

so I looked into hole and… there it was… the threads were gone…
I don’t know how this came about. honestly I’ve unbolted everything properly. (at least I think I did)

I’ve wd40ed and heat torched all bolts before loosening them.

infact… the bolt right below it… there was a bolt that was right beside the starter bolts … that to… the thread was gone. :frowning:

these two bolts were actually the first two bolts I’ve unbolted to separate the tranny from the engine

now I’m stuck. that one corner has nothing holding the tranny to the engine block…

what should I do?!

any suggestions welcome…

leave it, there are 9 bellhousing bolts on the SR. i have 3 left undone on my KA tranny at the top and it bogs in second gear between 2-3k rpm because of that (im quite sure). but if it’s one bolt it wont make a difference as long as the others are torqued properly or even tighter.

Re-tap it bigger and get a larger bolt. Alum is very soft so I wouldn’t recommend heating the crap out of it unless you are sure its is completely necessary. Which by the way with alum block is very very unlikely.
