SR20 Rough Idle

I am having some problems with the idle on my SR. It seems idle better when its cool out but even just after being started it runs crappy. It seems the second i hit boost then return to idle it has problems. The idle dives and almost stalls, after 30 seconds of feathering the gas it returns to normal idle. I bought an AFC thinking it would remedy this probelm but i didnt.

I have searched around a bit and noticed some people getting injector cleaner, i doubt this would remedy the poblem 100% but its worth a try.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Kind of sounds like an intake/intercooler leak??
What do you have for a BOV?
Did you connect the air intake to the idler control thingy on the intake manifold?

I have a HKS SSQV BOV. So yes that effects the idle some what, but it shouldn tbe this bad.

“Did you connect the air intake to the idler control thingy on the intake manifold?”

Maybe just a tiny bit more detail perhaps a pic haha. I have no idea what u are talking about lol.

Pretty sure i have no intercooler leaks i have kept a good eye on it.

You could try tihtening the BOV a bit to see if it helps, my ARC leaked at idle if it didn’t have enough spring tension.

The SR would not run unless this is connected. So that is obviously connected. You could make the i/c leak checker I made. Get a 2" plumbing cap from Home Depot and drill a hole for a schraeder valve. clamp it to your compressor inlet and pressurise the system.

Mine is doing almost the same thing but its not going to a low idle its idleing high bouncing a bit then settles back down also running super rich. I am thinking its my BOV so I am going to fab up a plate and recurculate it and see what that does.MY idle was almost stalling at one point there was a vacuum leak.

Yeah, still sounds like a vacuum leak possibly.
-take a good look and trace where all your lines go. Let us know if some of them don’t seem right and we can try to help ya out, make sure all nipples and bungs have a line attached to them

Or it still kind of sounds like a leak in the intake air. Have you checked between the MAF and the turbo? There are 3 holes in the stock rubber piece that joins those together. there is a tube going to the valve cover breather, a hole for the re-circ valve to connect to, and a vacuum line. If your running a BOV venting to atmosphere, then make sure the hole in the intake pipe is plugged. It’s kind of on the under side, so maybe you didn’t see it??

An easy way to check for vacuum leaks is to get an air regulator hook it to a compressor and take off your brake booster hose off and blow constaint air through it.Then use a spray bottle with soap and water spay all the lines and hoses if it bubbles you found your leak.
