SR20det backfire!?!

I just got my 3" megan racing exhaust for my s14. I am getting a bit of backfire here and there. Can this be solved with an intake or is this just something I am gonna have to live with. Thanks for the help!

Ryan.

backfires are from un used gas…if ur just driving normal and it backfires there could be an exhaust leak

but if u are driving it hard its just because ur engine is 100% efficient, better plugs/wires/cap/engine management can all help out with no backfiring and using 100% of the fuel

he could remove his cat

then their would be no ignition source for the un burnt fuel

i hope this is a joke

how does the unburnt fuel get ignited then ?

hmm what the flash point of petrol?

flash point = the temp at which something ignites without direct spark, just heat

I would hazard a guess its pretty low

wasnt there a thread liek this about misfiring system not too lnog ago

unburnt fuel + hot exhaust piping

=

backfire

So why am I getting unburnt fuel. How can I stop this?

Removing the cat would produce more/bigger flames during backfire.

Webster; could be a number of reasons.
Open to atmosphere bov, richly tuned ecu, vaccum leak.

What kind of backfires are you getting?

It happens mostly between 1st and second. Just one big bang.
