Hey everybody.
Ok so i had this problem for some time now I’ve been trying to figure out what it is and I’m not having much luck.
This is what happens with the car:
Any gear 1st through to 5th I step on it, the car pulls no problems than when it hits between about 5500rpm and 6000 rpm it just cuts out. The engine stops pulling and the rpms start to drop very slowly, but I stay on the throttle and the car just keeps slowing down slowly. I have to let of for like 2 or 3 seconds and than step back on the throttle and the car will pull again, but as soon as it comes to that rpm again it happens again and this happens in any gear.
I’ve also tried to rev the engine to 6000 rpm with it just sitting there idling and when it hits 6000 rpm it cuts out, the rpms drop down to zero and the car shuts off. And than like 2 seconds after that you hear like a suction noise for a quick sec and than its gone. And as it hits 6000 rpm and starts to drop, if i stay on the throttle or pedal it or just release the throttle no matter what the outcome is still the same, the car still turns of and I hear the same suction noise.
If anybody has seen this issue before or had something similar please let me know what might be wrong.
Check the sensors on the transmission. It sounds like the top speed Governor is kicking in based off the tach signal because it’s not getting a proper reading from one of the transmission sensors (speed-o, 4th or 5th).
Well I started off by changing the spark plugs and the coil packs. And I also changed the maf sensor. I took off my whole dashboard and I checked all my wiring over and everything looks good. I looked over all the grounds and they look fine. Everything is connected properly so I don’t think its wiring.
I’ll check the sensors today and see if that’s it. A few people told me knock sensor but I seriously doubt that and the symptoms of a knock sensor wouldn’t be what I described.
If you guys have some more ideas let me know. If anybody lives close to etobicoke and wants to see what happens and the way the car reacts I will gladly show you guys.
You have ruled out ignition, MAF is good, air doesn’t seem to be the issue for the cut. You hear a suction noise (fuel pump whine?) before it sputters and stalls out in neutral. I’m thinking you have the same issue and you are experiencing fuel cut because of it.
If you haven’t changed your fuel filter lately that could be a problem. I had that issue before but the car never shut off just lost power in the top end
