SR20DET swapped in 240sx but tach doesnt work

I pulled a SR20DET from my 1990 240sx, it had a the KA SOHC tach with the 6000rpm redline in it and it worked perfectly.

When i swapped the motor into my 1991 which has a JDM 7500rpm redline tach(i know the tach works cause i had it in the car before the engine swap) it doesnt move and stays at 0.

I wired up the plug that comes off the ECU plugin that goes to the cluster(6 wires) So it should work. A friend dont me that the wiring can have a “diode” or something it it so it will work on the 6000rpm redlinevtach and not the 7500redline one.

I know the wiring up to the ecu is good so its something else, Any ideas whats causing this problem???

i think u need a dohc tach to make it work properly

can you not just run a wire from the distributor to the back of the cluster?

SR has no distributer.
