The “rule of thumb” from everything I have read is 11.5. Anything 12.X is considered lean. Sure, you can get away with it but why risk it for min. gains?

Given my car made more power with less displacement on pump, I’d disagree.

It can depend motor to motor, but on a FI LSX engine, 12-12.5 is totally fine.
