Had to pull the bike apart to get the alarm/remote starter I had in it out to put into my wife’s jeep. Decided to go all out with pulling everything off to make it a lot easier to get to everything.
While it is apart, I have a few things planned that should be going in very very shortly…;
New alarm/remote starter with much cleaner wiring and 100% hidden.
Possibly new air filter while I have the airbox off.
Picked up the headlight mod parts (see below)which I will hopefully be sending it all for the mod. consisting of G35 projectors, audi style turn signals, euro signals, and hidden leds inside the headlight. Im also going throw in the hidden auto-switch to turn my running lights on/off by holding the highbeam switch.
All fairing bolts being replaced with coated “Lollypop red” bolts from bikebolts.com
Came home from court yesterday to find a couple much anticipated packages!!!
Giggity Giggity Goo… now to get ahold of the guy that does the mods so I can get these sent to him and finished up so I can put her all back together again with the new sexy bolts. Then to get the energy to pull my pegs back off and change the powdercoating to a better matching red.
I think that will be it for this project. I will keep this thread updated as the project progresses. It should be a nice quick project.
How much did the bolt kit end of costing you? I was looking to getting a set of black bolts for my bike but the cost was so high I ended up painting them my self instead.
Its an 05 and to be honest, I’ve never even looked… lol. My guess would be 60.
I am mainly doing it for the alarm, but since it has a remote starter built in with the 2way alarm I figured what the hell… lol. It is setup so that if the bike is not in neutral, it will not start. I got the bolts from bikebolts.com… I think they were around $30 or so for the full bolt kit (includes bolts and plastic washers/spacers)
Its a common kit for the R6’s. It allows to have both sides lit up (having OCD really sucks when you have a bike with one side low beam, other side high beam… plus I was getting really tired of hearing “you have a headlight out”). They come out really good in the end and saves from having to have 4 projectors b/c the G35s have an internal cut-off shield that raises for high beam and lowers back down for low.
Yeah I wouldnt mess with a remote starter on a bike.
I usually keep the bike in gear on the kick stand if the surface isnt totally flat and level so it doent have a chance of rolling away or backwards and which could fold the kick stand up and tip the bike over.
I can just see it now, you will hit the remote start button with it in gear and it will ride right away! lol
I am sure your smart enough to install a nutral safty switch right!?!?!?!
in my response above, there is a kill wire hooked to the neutral switch so that if the bike is ever in gear (or not in N) it will not allow the remote starter to engage. I’ve been installing starters for about 5 years now and have done well over 1000. I already had one on the bike all last year, Im just swapping it out for a different one. I am smart with my installs and have no worries about ever having it start in gear and cause any damage.
I was gonna ask why you went with G35 over the TSX projector (which I believe is a little smaller) but you answered the question above. I didn’t know G35 projectors were bi-xenon.
I’d love to see your retrofit when you’re done. I’m a retrofit whore lol. Every car I own from here on out, unless it comes with HID projectors, will always be retrofitted.
If there was anyone i would trust installing a remote start/alarm it would be kenny, so im sure hooking up the r6 to remote start will not be any problem.
Got most of the wiring done today and ready for the headlight housing once it gets here (hopefully sometime in the middle/end of this week). Also got my air horn mounted finally, newish filter put in, wired up some new switches for my LED’s, put the new alarm/remote starter in, and got the rear camera/screen mounted and wired up. Everything is working great and I really cant wait to get the headlight in and going.:toocool:

Out with the old filter:
In with the newish:
Front end wiring. Mainly the headlight wiring, and you can see the air horn behind it:
Close-up to show the horn:
Screen mounted up:
Lots and lots of wiring… was a little bit of a nightmare… lol:
Mercury tilt switch. This way if the bike is ever even stood up, it will trigger the alarm:
Rear Camera:
Horn by itself. I put in a mini-piazzo siren for the alarm that is above and to the right of the horn. Makes a loud and very annoying sound when the alarm goes off. And its smaller and easier to mount on the bike.
Switches; the forward most switch will turn on/off the headlight, and the nearest switch will turn on/off the LEDs:
the wiring that is visible will be tucked down a little bit more and will basically disappear as soon as the tank goes one. No wires will be visible once the bike is back together.
the front is good and I have a new rear for it… just gotta put it on. The airhorn was bought from advance I believe… was around $30 or so I think (got it a while ago, but didnt actually properly install it til now). The camera works quite nice… gives a nice wide view of whats behind me so I dont have to rely on the mirrors… still have to turn my head for changing lanes though.
I am not 100% sure about the screen yet. I’m sure when the sun hits it just right it may be an issue but I’m hoping it will be fine most of the time. We shall see probably next weekend or whenever the weather gets nice again… I should have it all back together by next weekend at the latest.
