I just bought another 95’ 3000gt N/A and it has been sitting in this old mans garage for 2-3 years without being started. Its in very good shape with decent mileage, i just got it home and i want to get it running. Im sure it will fire up with out a problem, it was properly stored with additives and in a climate controlled garage. Does anyone have any tips or anything to look over or do before i try and start it up for the first time?? Any help is appreciated.Thanx
well i dont think you can spin the oil pump easily without pulling half the motor apart so id squirt a little oil in each cyl and turn the engine over by hand with the plugs out to make sure its smooth. then change the oil and filter and fill the filter full and put it back on. leave the plugs out and disconnect the fuel injector harness and crank the engine over till the pressure comes up. then put the plugs in and start the car.

thats probably a good idea… a lil marvel mystery oil in the spark plug holes may be a good investment…
you want to treat the turbos like thety are brand new so build up some oil pressure before cranking it over
i think his 3000gt is N/A no turbo involved. but these are good tips
probably worth inspecting the hoses too, rubber has a finite life. better to find a pin-hole or weak spot / crack now than when it’s pressurized
eww then whats teh point… just leave it be
It was cheap and couldnt pass up the deal , any other words of advise??
Pretty much. It’s only been sitting for a few years so it should probably be fine.
Otherwise look up posts by “jimmyjamz”, we coached him through starting up a car that had been sitting for 20 years.
Pull the plugs, spray some WD-40, or PB Blaster in each cylinder (small amount) then pull the fuel pump fuse. Crank the engine with the spark plugs out and fuel pump fuse out for a good 30sec. Then change the oil and filter, then put it all back together and start it up.
all good advice here
Make sure you drain the tank and use new gas. I would pull the injectors and make sure they’re all ok as well. Check grounds and shit for corrosion.
Not really necessary after 2-3 years of sitting. I could see if it had been sitting for 7+ years but gas is still fine after 2-3years as well as injectors.
Gas sitting for a year will usually need stabilizer.
Wouldn’t hurt to dump a bottle into the tank.
The gas has additives in it from when he stored it, so it should be good
