it’s designed so the more eco friendly states can set the agenda for the nation without needing federal laws set by conservative senators from texas
NYS is going to shaft us HARD on this one.
And there you have it folks, from the king liberal himself. It’s designed so a few states can set the national agenda, despite not having the support of the majority of the nation.
This is going to be a fun 4 years.

You’re all hopped up on outlandish assumptions. This plan was just mentioned and I find it hard to believe you did all of the research yourself and know the exact details, consequences and outcomes. If done correctly, this can work out good. Time will tell.
Yeah, maybe we’ll lose some models. No more F-250s - we’ll have to make due with F-150s and F-350s. They might stop selling F-650s to consumers.
Don’t get me wrong, I think that requiring a “fleet average” is the wrong way to go about this, but releasing some 1-2 seater diesel or gas, small displacement cars in the 60-80 mpg range (like you can get in Europe - not that I’d own one, but Ford should sell the Ka and SportKa here) would increase their fleet average without even having to eliminate any models.
They can introduce more “displacement on demand” technology, and they can reduce weight.
As an enthusiast, this is what I want most - reduction of weight. If some ridiculous California standards make Ford release the Ka here, and reduce the weight of the Mustang, SVT Focus (do they even still make that?), etc., I’ll be happy.
It’s not the end of the world. It’s also not some brilliant stroke of eco-friendliness.
As for drilling domestically, if we play our cards right, and put our resources there, we can be off foreign oil and fueling our vehicles off the grid, with a new generation of nuclear power plants to support the added load, before we could even get a trickle of oil out of Alaska or our off-shore sites.
Sorry but the automotive free for all is over. Fast cars don’t carry the brands anyway.
You don’t need national support. The car companies get to decide who’s more important the California Contingent or the states with looser restrictions. It’s not CA’s fault they’re more important than Wyoming
