steelers performance against the eagles

i just wanna say that if we took five sumo wrestlers that just stood still, it’d take more time to get to ben than the idiots we had up front against the eagles. i’ve never seen a more pathetic performance than sunday. 8 sacks??!!

eagles blitz’d like every play…

that shouldnt matter.

the coaches should have adapted to that and started to throw some screen passes and maybe a toss to parker on the outside to get rid of the ball faster. last year the line was a weakness as well. i believe it was something like 55 total sacks on the year for ben last year. we keep this up we are looking at well over 60

the steelers offensive line looks horrible. whats even more scary is the number of them up for free agency at the end of the season which could make next years line potentially worse than this years.

i blame a lot on the coaching not being able to adapt to what the eagles were doing. there was ways they could have made the situation better by not having ben back there so long. small screen passes, a toss to parker on the outside, ect… anything other than what we are doing

and that going for it on 4th down at the end of the game is stupid. its still a two poss. game

kick the feild goal and try to get the onside kick

the staff looked just as bad as the players

agreed, that was stupid

I usually don’t like to place blame on any one person or any group of people for a loss, but I can definitely place that entire game on the O-line or lack thereof. They pretty much just let the D right through for free shots at Ben. I didn’t see any issues with our receivers, they weren’t dropping passes and the RB’s had no chance because the D was in their face before they even got the handoff. And our D played a great game. They gave up a lot of passing yards, but all in all, they did ok. Hopefully our O-line shows up next week, I will be really pissed if we lose to the Ravens.

yes the line played poorly which has been a problem for the past 2 seasons.

i also have to direct some of the blame to the coaching staff not adjusting to the blitzing and not calling some different plays to get rid of the ball quicker. you cant throw the ball down field with no time in the pocket. the running game wasnt gonna work for obvious reasons so you have to adapt to whats happening and that just wasnt going on. poor play calling and a inability to adjust to the defense was what killed it

our d looked strong and that is the only reason the score wasnt out of control. something needs to be done about the line. although they were trying in the draft, this year was a very tackle heavy draft and most were all picked before we got to them.

when leftwich got out there the oline didnt look too bad. but it was too little too late by that point.

here come all the experts on football.

that was because philly was basically in a prevent defense. just about any of us could have stepped in there and completed a couple passes

ha im no football expert but i know enough to call out some obvious weakness that the steelers have as well as coaching breakdown

common sense says when something isnt working you try something else to fix it

unless they like spending millions on a qb that gets beat up the whole game.

From what everyone is saying, it seems to just a playback of the announcers during the game. If anyone watched the game, they have heard everything that was said in this thread.

The Steelers will be fine, it was one shitty game, it happens.

i agree its too early to start freaking out. if it continues to happen then everyone should start to worry

From what I heard the special teams coach did not have the kicking team ready and he had no choice but to go for it on 4th down. Tomlin was on camera yellling at the special teams coach right after the 4th down play. Then he covered for him in the post game interview.

bottom line o line sucks … bad idea letting Faneca go. sorry but the Steelers want the best out of being cheap. sometimes it better to pay than it is to gamble on new prospects. The Rooney’s have a billion dollar football team. Why not pay like it.

because they have a salary cap you inbred fuck.

When have the Rooneys ever hit the cap? They should be at least 2 million under cap. Cut the shitty players that dont produce and spend a little extra on shit thats worth it.

aaaaaaaaand fanaca is doing what in new york? oh yea letting favre get his ass kicked by almost every linebacker in the league…

good call in letting him go

Wow. Great thread :hsugh:

I would love to speak some football but Jesus Christ, it was one bad game against our first good opponent. There are still 13 more games that need to be played with 7 more being in the division. That was the first game that our offensive line showed its weakness. I have faith that they will pull it together a little bit. Hopefully that and the addition of game planning for a slightly weaker offensive line with screens, 3 step passes and some other things will improve the offensive play of last week.

I mean I can not believe you guys are bitching about salary caps, shitty players and all of that garbage already. Every team goes through a learning curve when there are major changes on a given side of the ball. If there was any bright side to the loss, it was the fact that our defense held a pretty good offense to field goals. I’m not quite sure how the loss of Brian Westbrook factored in but im sure it was not a bad thing for us.

The things that they can not control are falling into place, so lets hope they take care of what they can. If they do that then the big things will take care of themselves.

Lastly, GO MOTHER FUCKING STEELERS!!

:steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers::steelers:

i agree totally with what he said. its too early in the season to start bitching. i think that people dont realize the 1st two games were against teams that are complete shit.

i will say that there was a few errors out there that kinda worried me if they arent to be corrected over the next few games.

hopefully they get their shit in line and come to play on monday night

OKAY. First Half. It looks like a lot of the same from last week on offense. What is up with our defense making Joe Flacco look like Joe Namath?
