Your Sunday WTF....

What the hell happened to the Steelers? Last week, I said “ok, the Browns are a new team since week 1”, even though I thought it should never have been that close. Then we come to this week, the Jets are 1-8 or whatever, we’re 10.5 point favorites. What happens? They kick our ass. I really don’t think the score accurately reflects the game at all. They embarassed the Steelers all game (like on the very first drive of the game). Are these otherwise dismal looking teams getting that much better or are we getting that much worse?

Seems to me that some of the play calling was a little questionable. I mean, I’m not a football whiz or anything, but it seems to me that in OT with the game on the line, you would not call a run play on 3rd and LONG when the run hasn’t really worked all game.

Anyone else care to weigh in?

i;m glad i’m in illinois and couldn’t watch the game, that is all

ya, Phil Simms says your playing for field position in that instance… bull shit, in OT wit a team with nothing to lose you gotta play ftmfw, very stupid call

what it boils down to is the Oline didnt show up at all… TERRIBLE display of blocking, they were holding guys left and right and getting beat everytime. defense coulda been a little better tackling but it dont matter, you cant get sacked 7 times in a game and expect to win it

that one play sucked where they called Hagans for holding… dont get me wrong it was holding but if he woulda just covered the guy legally it woulda been our ball on the 20

First the Penguins, now the Steelers. Wtf.

Well, I am no football whiz either, and am sitting here recovering from my heart attack (and too many vodka and crans), but Id have to say the jets arent quite as bad as their record shows. Did the steelers play like shit? Yes…I think they thought it was their bye week, and underplayed terribly. But the Jets have a bad habit of losing the game in the very end. They lead throughout the game, but then lose in the final. Oh well, Steelers lose to easy teams…maybe thats a sign they will beat NE. wishful thinking

o no doubt, Jets def played a good game… Clemens played a hell of a game for as young as he is, hell the game shoulda been over the second to last play that the Jets had, Brad Smith shoulda caught that one in the corner of the end zone. cant role out Shaun Ellis having an awesome game to

I believe its a motivation/leadership problem on our team.

I really dont like that we consistantly gave the “paper airpllanes” good field positon with those pooch kicks.

What is the deal with the steelers not scoring touchdowns when we get in the redzone? Do we forget to line up with two tights, a fullback and just pound the fucking ball? I think this is the first year we have a deep passing game but where did the short and intermediate game go?

why do we consistantly give parker the ball out of an ace formation? Hes not that kind of back even though he pretends to be. Hes a speed runner not a patient read runner like LT. I Think he would gain alot from a lead blocker in the backfield and not only pulling guards!

Why do we not give davenport the fuckin ball more often? Hes a good running back and reminds me of jerome.

Playing football my entire life has told me that its a team effort and you can very rarely point fingers at individuals but what the hell is wrong with Troy? Is he still hurting from that abdominal strain? I know the offenses game plan against him but being a once elite safety he should still be making plays.

i dont know. i have alot of critiques about this team.

Jimmy

you are right… they even said during the game… willie likes to just go… well that doesnt work for us. he’d better suited like the broncos used to run TD, get him out and let him pick the hole from there.

The Pats were friggin amazing tonight once again, I dont know if the Steelers have what it takes to stop them. Brady has been a machine. Its a shame though, because before today I thought we may have stood a chance against New England, but we just dont have our shit together. We keep losing the games that we shouldn’t be, and we are winning the tough games, makes no sense.

WTF is this pooch kick nonsense? I have never heard the word till yesterday when they said it over and over again.

Gay.

Obviously they took this team lightly, did not come out ready to play, and it showed. Hope they don’t do the same thing Monday night or the same result will occur. These fucking 1-9 teams are hungry for any kind of a win and have basically nothing to lose.

I’m just glad I was at a concert and didn’t see this embarrassment. I have a feeling we just wen tin there too cocky. Hopefully we won’t make that mistake again. I’d hate to be a steeler in practice this week.

i cant believe sepulveda punted to that washington kid towards the end… jeez. from seeing replays of our special teams this season, its seems that everyone that gets downfield overruns the punt returner. harrison and davenport both overran the fuck out of that last punt.

This was the coaching staff’s way of saying “we can’t fix special teams, so we just won’t kick to anyone that can return”… Look what happened in OT when the return man actually got the ball.

For the last two weeks DVE and other media outlets have been running with this “why isn’t Ben mentioned with Manning and Brady” and “why aren’t the steelers given much respect”. This is why. You HAVE to beat the teams you should beat. There is no reason why we should have lost to the jets.

Special teams needs a huge shake up and the O-line has to show up every game.

The steelers always play as good as the opponent. If the opposing team is 1-9 and sucks, the steelers will suck. if the opposing team is 9-1, the steelers will play like a 9-1 team. I thought it was the fact that Cowher was a shitty coach, but I guess it’s the same thing as in the past years. It’s a shame, the steelers have a decent team this year but seem to let the games they should be easilly winning slip thru their hands.

i hate that cliche’ “they took them lightly” no they didnt… i’m sure they prepared just like they do every week… i’m sure they ran as fast as they do every week… this is professional football… any team can win any sunday.

/ thread, it is in the past and every dog has it’s day.

not “mentionable” wit Manning??? if thats what you think id rather not be then http://www.journalgazette.net/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071116/SPORTS0605/711160363/1016/SPORTS0605

… hes not superman and neither is Brady, they just have very key factor that Ben doesnt have and its called an offensive line that makes a pocket for him… its pretty bad when you hand the ball off to willie and there 3 guys in the back field and our oline is just standing up from the snap. like sleeper said, every dog has its day

 @ the Steelers

I think you are wrong.

The steelers will be a completely different team in a few weeks against the Patriots.

Hell, even in high school sports, we used to take teams lightly. I am sure it happens at the pro level also.
