I HAVE A 95 240SX SE AND AT ABOUT 120KM/H I GET A WOBLE IN MY STEERING WHEEL, AND IF I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR WANTS TO JERK IN THAT DIRECTION IF IM ON A BEND. ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS OR SOLUTIONS???
the same thing happend to me then went to dunnville and broke a balljoint so i would say get your balljoints checked
cause you dont want that kinda thing happening on the streets
Had a very similar issue with my s13 and could have sworn as well it was suspension related-turned out it was brake related-just out of coincidence after installing new calipers, rotors and pads in the front I lost my wobble go figure-food for thought
same thing hapened to me, it turned out to be front brakes also check how rusty your brakes are
looks are deceiving I wouldnt have thought my brakes were bad but i found 1 caliper where the pad was worn on an odd angle
Balljoints is one thing, the other thing which most overlook are steering rack bushings. My rack right now is moving around and does that but I’m waiting for my custom rack anyways so no care (just driving carefully).
Also tie rods, outers check for play… sometimes both the tie rods and balljoints may appear good and even not have much movement until you take them off… which is a bummer. However one way to find out is to try to move the wheel around… for the balljoints especially up and down.
Another possibility bad alignment… toe out in one corner and what have you some other weird things with uneven caster going on… tc rod bushings being blown… however I’m betting on either balljoints, rack bushings/rack moving, or outer tie rods.
Also bad shocks/worn out can do funky uncontrollable things too…
Is this a stock car or did you slam it? If you slammed it then bumpsteer will be screwed too and the car will have a mind of its own and decrease traction/grip…
Only way to find out is go one by one…
From my experience, tires are the number one thing that causes vibration. It also costs nothing to diagnose so I would start with that.
If the rear is not wobbling, swap the front wheels/tires for the rears. If the vibration goes away, then its either your tires are fucked or they’re off balance.
Since you car is pulling over bumps, it is most likely is a suspension component so inspect your entire front end (balljoints, bushings, tie rods, steering rack etc.)
replace the following and you should be set tie rods, ball joints, and wheel balance
same thing happend to me when i smoked a curb, it was a bent control arm

id say go get an alignment
Ball joints, lower, and on pwr steering arms
Pwr sterng bushings
control arms bushings
shocks
I also have a wobble in my steering wheel… My wobble is coming from the rear. Turns out that it’s my right rear wheel bearing. When you lift the car try to shake the the wheel. One hand on top the other on the bottom and try to wobble the wheels manually by pushing one hand forward while pushing the other in the oposite direction. If your wheel has any play, and if you can hear it click as you shake it, and there are no suspension components moving(tie rod bushings, balljoints etc etc) then it’s your wheel bearing to my knowledge. Just get the car off the ground and shake the wheels before pulling anything apart. If it’s none of those then chances are it’s your tires.
