My mom’s car as a wabble in the front end at low speeds and turns to a shudder at faster speeds…I was thinking its either a badly off balance tire, bad balljoint or loose tie rod or something? Any input would be appreciated.
Oh yeah, its a 91 Toyota Carolla.
Probably one of those. Check them and figure it out. The balljoint and tie rod should be easy enough to check. Have you narrowed it down to one side? Are the lug nuts tight?
it may also be a wheel bearing. just a thought
jack the car up and grab the wheel and wiggle it. If you cant feel any play, it could be the wheel… the whole turning thing makes me shy away from that. It should be pretty easy to find out what it is.

if you get the car in the air, and it wobbles at the top and bottom when you pull/wiggle it, then it should be the balljoint. if it wiggles laft to right, but not up and down, then it is a tie rod. if it wiggles every which way its both. if its just a sound, rahter than SERIOUS shaking at higher speeds, then its a wheel bearing.
