The vehicle im having the issue with is a 2003 trailblazer ext with the 4.2. After sitting for roughly 8 hours or so the steering wheel will shake from 50-60 mph along with the rest of the truck. it smooths out and doesnt shake at all after a couple miles. Ive rotated the tires trying to isolate the issue. Any ideas? Im at my wits end. Thanks.
Sounds like death wobble.
this happens on stock vehicles also. It is usually play in a tie rod, track bar bushing, or something similar.
if your front end is tight then get your tires balanced.
Has this shaking happen since you brought the truck? or has this problem just occured? if it just happened did you change anything to cause this problem?
Does it only happen at 50-60mph or at other speeds also? does it get worst with higher speed?
I hate tracking down a shake/vibration…because of the horrible experience with my e250 conversion van
figured out what it was.
low tire pressure. I recently made the switch to 265/50/20s and didnt notice the shake until it started cooling down at night. The tire pressure was at 25psi which allowed the tires to squat down enough onto the sidewalls to cause the shake.
I was really loosing my mind trying to figure it out. I only thought of checking tire pressure when i came across someone on a bmw forum with a similar problem.
