Stock/Slightly modded 5.0? any fun?

FUCKING DO ITTTTT

I just made an offer on a pretty quick Fox…we shall see what happens…

no you didnt

whats the general specs of it

We will see if they accept my final offer…we have been going back and forth for a while…

if this doesn’t work out I am going to look at an LS1 z28.

I am in no hurry to get something and have been low balling the hell out of people.

Im not a big fan of mustangs. But i knew a guy who had a f-body Saleen which was heavily modded i took a ride in it, i liked it.

I loved my fox mustang … never got old till I smashed it

Build a Tbird or Cougar with a 302…

They are nicer to drive…

Why not buy a somewhat newer Stang? Poopra said he bought his 2001(?) for less than clean foxbodies were going for.

X…

I wanted something that was already modded and quick…

I loved my fox, and I plan on getting one again. Stock they’re smogged to shit and as a result, are very slow. Get a decent heads, cam, and intake combo and they’re quick fun to drive cars.

Don’t get an AOD unless you plan on swapping in a c4.

And a ton heavier. One of the major appeals of the Fox 'Stang is its “lightness”

Like the F-body to GTO comparison. Same motor, but the F-body will be .5-1.0 faster mod for mod. That’s a pretty good difference. Granted the GTO is a better over all car than any F-body, but will never be as fast or fun to drive due to weight penalty. If you were looking for a decently quick DD, A T-bird or Cougar (just like a GTO) would be a better choise.

I have never seen a good looking tbird or cougar.

Meh,a Fox body mustang has a curb weight of 3100-3300,a 83-87 cougar will weigh 3100-3200,T-Birds tip the scales a little bit more at 3300-3400.Being that they’re all fox platform, they’ll have similar weight.I do believe the lightest fox body car is the fairmont, which is in the 2800 range.

83-88 T-brids were :tiffy: at best. The 89+ was a way better car and tipped the sclaes form anywhere between 3550 and 3725 depending on options.

The fox body 'Stang weighed anywhere between [FONT=Verdana]2,754-3,350lbs, depending on year and model while the Sn 95s ranged from 3,055-3,565.

my sn95 5.0 is 3330 on the scales @ the 1/4

they have a scale at nyi?

Fox Mustangs still have huge aftermarket support.Chassis is very build-able; the only two cars in the sixes on a radial tire are both mustangs and doing it on stock style suspension with no bars. They are also easy to work on.

After going back and forth decided to not go fox body and get another LS1 however I think I am waiting a little longer since there are some nice pre modded ones for 10k…and I would also like to buy a house in the next year.

Solid plan. I am on the prowl for a vette this winter but by all means if I can find a rocking deal on a Z-28 I will be on it.
