Seems to me, BMW recommended 15,000 mile intervals on my 2002 MINI Cooper S. Being very old school, I just couldn’t wait that long. Usually did about 4000 miles or so. I always figured that you will never hurt your engine by changing your oil too soon…
some of the things said are good. but the conclusion is everybodys oil breaks down differently. even if you have the same car. or have the same oil
its best to check your oil and determine weather or not its time to change. not read a article and change it every xxx days or xxx miles. but to change it when it needs a change. it will take time to be able to know when. but it comes
for me sometimes i change my oil every 3000 but if i was hitting the gas alot or driving it hard on a hot day i might change it right after i am done. or if i know i will be driving hard i will change it before.
i used to have a b234r stage 4. i heard of the same thing.
i think the problem is the downpipe goes over the oil pan heating it up causing sludge. then the pickup gets clodged and starves the engine.
thats why i think most new car companies have the intake in the front. with the exhaust in the back.
theres other reasons like engine bay temps and air temps but the downpipe heats it up alot.
i could be wrong tho. just what i think
dis
Amsoil full synthetic and I go by the oil life monitor in the truck, sometimes its 12,000+ mile oil changes.
yea cause u drive round the world n back every week
My truck is my current record holder for highest amount of miles ive put on a single vehicle I’ve owned, 67K+. I’ve never owned a vehicle with more than 89,000 miles on it.
b/c VT
i feel like if i visited VT for skiing once a week i would be over 100k by summer :rofl
My truck hit 119k yesterday and Im shooting for 200k+. I change the oil every 3k with semi-synthetic.
itll last forever with that frequent of oil changes
Id rather get outside and see things and do stuff than sit at home playing video games or watching TV when its 80* out.
road tripz ftw
thats what Im hoping.
Im so sick of car payments that I want to keep this thing as long as I possibly can.
I drive to vt pretty much every week. Less now with the baby obviously but I bought my car 2.5yrs ago with about 65k on it. Now it’s up to about 136k
wrd i gotta start driv3n moar den
Im driving mine alot less lately but I did put over 20k on it last year.
ill prob change mine before bowling green road trip in da spring
if your ahead of the payments VS the trucks worth. Sell it. Find a daily that would be more useful and save $$$$ on no payments.
Even if your Juuuuuuust ahead or close to ahead on it. List it on CL. List it for 6 months if thats what it takes, but put the asking price high enough to be profitable. There are buyers for EVERYTHING. It doesnt hurt to try and make a buck.
I owe slightly more than half value right now, maybe even less since its been a bit since I checked.
To me getting rid of the truck just doesnt make sense.
Why would I want to get rid of it and buy somebody else’s junk? Id rather keep a dependable vehicle that Im not dumping money into all the time.
Ill have it paid off within a year so I wont have payments. If I sell it Id just end up with a $4k or so POS, probably something 10 years older with more miles than the 119k currently on the truck.
Ive got a company vehicle that I drive daily for work now so Im not driving the truck nearly as much as before and I use it for truck things quite a bit lately.
Yah I was surprised when BMW told me that for my 328i. I figure Il just change it once a year since I don’t think Il ever hit close to 15,000 in a year.
