So when I changed my oil I checked the antifreeze to see what temp its good for but when I sucked it out it was a very dark green, clean though but very dark. Anybody know anything about this? Its still the same antifreeze that was in it when it came from Japan.
Someone may be dumb and not have mixed the antifreeze with water cause they thought it was premix…just a guess.
Might be straight antifreeze.
Chances are it’s its straight antifreeze. Drain it out and change it because it will gel up on you and become useless. Straight antifreeze is very dark green.
if its dark oily looking color then thats some blowby u got going on (piston rings)
put it in a bucket and see if there is oil in it!
oil + anitfreeze=grey sludge, drain that shit just to make sure you don’t have any blowby.
No its not blowby and its not straight antifreeze either its just a really dark like pine green looks fairly new.
How would blowby make your antifreeze change color? The coolant in you engine doesn’t come in contact ever, it is sealed. The only way it could is a blown headgasket or a rod through the block.

Good point!
My alto works and a few of my other jdm cars were like that as well …dark green but clean as you stated … and I recently tested mine and it was good to -30 on the tester …
jsut to be dafe might as well flush the system and put new in there just to be sure but doesnt sounds like any thing is wrong as there are other problems associated if you find gas or oil in your coolant.
biggest suprise is the jdm toyota/honda red coolant when you see it for the first time though
i noticed my car had very dark colored coolant when i first got it. i drained/refilled with fresh premix coolant to be sure it wasn’t a blown headgasket. maybe in japan they have darker color coolant. lol.
i think it is just kind of like a more high temp antifreeze? i see it alot at bike shops and both my crotch rockets have had really dark green anti-freeze
Would anybody know if it would be safe to mix normal green with it? The anti-freeze is still good just a week mixture (only good to about -25) I was thinking topping it up with regular green just to get it a little higher. But I was unsure if it would be safe cuz I remember hearing something about GM’s antifreeze where they had that orange dex-cool and if you mixed it with regular green you could rot some seals and gaskets, I don’t know the truth on this but I figured I’d play it safe. SO I may as well just quit being lazy and just flush it.
why don u doa coolant flush instead and put regular stuff in it? its not like its hard!
