Strange turbo behavior(sohc civic)

SOHC Vtec
t25 turbo
fmic
stock map sensor
450cc injectors
blah blah blah

all obdI, chipped and has base map on it

base map has launch control set at ~3700 rpms

So im driving the car, getting on it a little bit, and beating on it. Pull up to a traffic light. Everything is good.

Then, go from the light, not going crazy. Then i get on it a little more and bring the rpms up. The car made boost(turbo was spooling same as always) and then it hit the spot where the launch control is and started bouncing off of it(its pretty voilent when this happens at WOT in third gear). When I let off the gas, the bov opened as usual and it was just as loud as it usually is, so im positive I was making boost.

So it happened, and I thought it was very strange, so I started taking it easy(just wanted to get to class). After taking it easy for a minute, I went ahead and brought it back up to that range, completely stopped and didnt happen again.

So what could this be? I was definitely in boost and not in vaccuum. Why would it think that it should be in launch control mode?

bad map sensor maybe? maybe loose wiring?

maybe speed sensor cut out…

it was happening in both second and third gear and ONLY at the rpms where the launch control is set.

if the speed sensor is shitting ut it thinks you are not moving.

I bet it’s that.

My hatch did that too.

fuckin aye ur right, i didnt realize thats how it would figure out that it should be in launch control

<3 you guys

turn off launch control, its gay especially at 3700rpm, It should be at a minimum of 6000rpm on any honda

“fuckin noobz”

im not the one that turned it on. it just kinda happened that way lol. I dont really ever drag race the car, so i can do just fine without it, its just a matter of making it happen at this point.

oh and if my speed sendor was cutting out, wouldnt my speedo stop working?

^^ yes

hmmm, speedo seems to still work when this happens

any other ideas?

replace the damn sensor. if that isn’t it take the new part back.

what are you using to pickup the rpm for the launch control? On my car I use the clutch switch so when you push in the clutch the SMT6 switches maps

that i do not know. but according the above posts, i would assume that it uses the VSS.

:wstupid:

and make sure the wire is seated properly in the ecu harness

yeah, you know it hasnt happened in a few days now. It seems so intermittent that it could very well just be a loose plug, ill take a look at it, the car was hot the other day when I was trying to look at it and i almost burned myself a few times. Ill clean that thing up when its cold. I shall report back…
