Street racing fatality

Ummm… there was no intent or premeditation to this at all. There isn’t any good reason he should be charged with first degree murder. He would have had to sit in his car, plan to go kill this woman by hitting her and then do it, if that charge was to stick.

Dave, I agree with the “accident” term. That word is a media no-no, or it is supposed to be anyway. Collision, crash, hit and run, etc. are all replacements for “accident.”

Anyone on here that says he should have got jail time, but has street raced and will continue to street race in the future is a blatant hypocrite. People forget how easy it is to kill a person.

When people street race they don’t plan on killing people, it’s just an unfortunate byproduct.

stop quoting me people. I am an immigrant from third world country where u get your head cut off for stealing a man’s donkey.

ok as a serious post than … Inzane does have very valid points and no the guy shouldnt be charged with first degree murder and yes it was an unfortunate accident…

in 780, i red that the guy said he was NOT street racing and he is trying to appael even the slap in the hand he got. I think thats basically him saying that he does not think he has done anything wrong.

TCS failure on 60 km/h ? he prolly had it off that cocksucker… i am just pissed at the fact that how easy he gets off… i guess he can thank his rich background and lawyers, thats how the world goes…

and how guilty he feels argument is pure BS. Well not really BS, but it doesnt hold a valid point … “Awww give him a break , he has to live with this for rest of his life” … should not be a pity point … This guy is not some young punk with a first car that is fast … he is a old rich corvette owner wit h z05 and a blower for god sakes , he knows what he is doing …Gulty conscious my ass, if he really had it that bad, he wouldnt be appaeling, or lets see if he is gonna do some donations or helping out the family of the person he killed or not…

Police are fond of saying there are no accidents, only collisions. The reason for this is because in 99% of collisions, someone is at fault.

I also am not a subscriber to a guilty conscience being an adequate punishment. Again, we cannot measure conscience as a punishment, so it has to be placed in real terms.

I don’t think the guy deserves the maximum penalty the law will allow - that kind of punishment should be reserved for serial criminals that repeatedly commit offences. Serial rapists, drunk drivers, etc. I just think that house arrest, where he can still go out in public and enjoy some relative freedom while this lady is dead is wrong. And if this motherfucker feels so bad about what he did, why doesn’t he start a scholarship fund for this lady’s kids and send them through university, or something of that nature.

I have street raced, and I probably will again. Plenty of people have been killed by speeding, yet does that make us hypocrites for doing it? One can do a dangerous action without being a hypocrite as long as you’re willing to accept the punishment that comes with that action. I’ve already said that I would.

Likewise, I’m also not one of these people baying for everyone’s blood - I just take particular offense to this guy because he KNEW that he was in the wrong and tried to pass off his mistake on someone else (GM). I think this guy should be made an example of to a point - but hey, obviously the judge didn’t feel the same way.

The guy’s probably smoking a cigar right now.

The guy’s probably smoking a cigar right now.[/quote]

WTF is wrong with you? YES maybe he needed a better punishment… but seriously wtf man… you honestly think this guys going to be sitting at home Smoking a cigar?! HE KILLED SOMEONE! …

what a F***ing joke… :huh

I don’t think anyone could say it better than this. It could happen to any of us. Fuck… it very well could have happened to me when I crashed my civic… if the other vehicle had a passenger I would probably have killed them…

I should be dead…
One second faster I would be dead.
One second slower I would be dead.
If my car was rusty I would be dead.
If I wasn’t wearing my seatbelt I would be dead.

Something to think about.
