had food poisining over the weekend, had to race home beacuse i really almost sh-t myself…
No actual poisoning here, but I did have to run out of the bar on Saturday night and test the Vette’s suspension limitation to try to get to the closest McDonalds. Small place, one man at a time facility… that shitter would have been occupied for 15 minutes and inoperable for at least 30 after that. My conscience just wouldn’t let me do it.
I had been chasing this kid to race for a long time. He had a small block Chevy Luv with aluminum heads and juice. One night after work I ran into him at an ice cream stand in Beaver county. He asked if I wanted to “go” so we agreed to meet at the B.C. strip at 2 a.m. for a couple of bucks. Now I need a flagger I’m beating on my buddys’ basement doorsometime around 1 and start explaining the situation. He’s in. We start up to the place and the car is begining to act weird, I clear it out and it straightens out. By now word has spread to a couple other dudes and the are following me. He shows up with about five cars with him. We give the money to someone and line up. Wouldn’t you know my hunk of junk starts acting up again, she won’t idle below 3 grand( way to high to launch on the street with Futuras. I lost the race, and my money. The other guy found out later I had some problems and wanted to know why I didn’t say anything about it. All I told him was"I said would race and wasn’t backing out like a dick at the last minute with a lame excuse." Besides his truck broke on the way home anyway. If I was on my “A” game I probably wouldn’t have beaten him anyway, but it would have been a great race. Raced a big block 1970 vette once too that’s a good story.:eek2:
A chevy luv with a small block would be sick…I had one with an iron duke in it that ran good
