Striping the black and paint silver---possible for rims?

I found a nice deal on a set of rims for the S2000 but they only come with black spokes. Is there a place locally that will strip the spokes from being black and paint them silver/shiny?

I know pepboys has “rim paint” but im not about to do that to a new set of rims for the S

Its quite possible, but it just sounds like a lot of work for new wheels.
Are they that good of a deal to justify this?

I don’t know of any local places that would do it, but id imagine they could be sandblasted and painted any color you wish.

The silvers are no longer in production
A set of the blacks are 600 shipped

are those rota d2? You’re probably better off finding a used set of real work meisters, by the time you’re done stripping/powdercoating, you’ll spend 1k

real works in 18" will be more then 1k

to sandblast and powdercoat the 4 wheels you will spend more than $400 plus cost of the wheels in the first place. Your money will be better spent on REAL Works for the rough amount of $1000

I’m sure you can find real works wheels for about 1200, used…the extra 200-500 you spend will be a MUCH better investment. At least when you get sick of them in a few years, they will have a high resale value, as opposed to the rotas. You won’t get dick for them 2 years later.

Dont buy those shitty wheels.

Its either these (maybe used works)
or
Super Advan Racing Ver.2’s
Might have to wait a while since the Supers are SUPER expensive

If your cheaping out on rims why not cheap out on paint?

Buy some real wheels or rattle can the cheap ones.

Go here

Then see if Spam16V on here will powder them for a good price.

Or try du-all

Last year I had my 18x9.5 wheels blasted and powdered for a whopping $205 total.

I once did a set of track wheels for a member here, took 2+ days of work to get them properly prepped and spray bombed with rustolium (quart car / spray gun) so thats 16 hours of labor @ shop rate to make some wheels look 1/2 decent…

your taking about taking new wheels, fully stripping them, and making them look just as new in a different color … faaaawk that

Just do what I said and it will cost like $250 MAX. 16hrs shop rate who the fuck would pay that knowing they could just get them blasted and coated lol. For painted wheels I hope shop rate was about $10hr

Hey, wasn’t my decision, I just did my job until the owner was happy w/ them. They didnt want to have them blasted by an outside shop so whatever …

I have seen rattle can wheels come out mint looking, it can definitely be done.

Since they are new there would be no need to strip the paint off, you could just paint them.

Powder coating isn’t that bad price wise either, probably worth the money.

My drag wheels I did in rattle can wheel paint after hitting with a scuff pad and they honestly look really good too.

Did you get actual rim paint, from like pepboys
Or are you talking about rustolem depot paint

I look into those links
Thanks

I used the duplicolor wheel paint. If you prep it well it will look really nice. The huge difference is going to be the durability and longevity of a powdercoat finish.

I love powdercoat.

I just blasted and painted a pair of my wheels with Duplicolor to see how they would look and they look perfect. It’s all in the prep. I’m not saying that it is better than powdercoating, as I had my other wheels powdercoated, just that they can look really good if prepped right.
