A more advanced graduated licensing system. I’ve always wondered about that.
I seriously doubt that would happen.
Yet, if it did. I could see the higher classed drivers being deemed “more dangerous” to the public and police, even though they/we would have a higher grade license.
Lanes should be;
right - 100km/h - 120km/h
center - passing lane
left - 140km/h (at least) up to…160km/h?
something a long those lines.
Traffic would be cut immensely. MUCH less accidents.
I can not count how many close calls I have had from people cutting into the hammer lane right in front of me while I’m cruising at 130. Then they drive at 100km/h. Like…are you fucking kidding me!!!
agreed about the cruising and someone is driving 100… them following speed is actually more dangerous just because 120 is normal on highways
but i dont think theyll make middle lane passing lane because youd have people switching from both the 160 and the 100 lanes into the middle one which can get hectic
I don’t mind the speed limits now cause no matter how good of a driver you are you have to worry about all the shitty ass drivers. I’m less scared of speeders then, people driving retarted slow and swerving and changing lanes without giving a fuck,
but the thing that pisses me off is when i see people driving a foot or two behind someone, its the stupidest thing and drives me crazy.
I could be driving 130 - 140 in the left lane going with the flow of traffic and have some 30 year old women, in their lexus SUV, fly up behind me a meter from my bumper and expect me to get out of the way, so they can just speed up on the net persons bumper. Drives me insane!!
and it would work if different plates were issued for people who have advanced licenses’, and then for those permitted to travel over 140km/h, those plates could only be attached to an equally capable car, NO SUV’s or minvans with coloured advanced plates.
Realistically, this will never happen because the costs and effort will be too great to allow some people to travel a greater speeds. I say just make it harder for people to get licenses.
Don’t forget, you can buy your licence, if you know the right people so this does not help the situation. We need to have stricter rules and tests every time we have to renew our licence. And of course to eliminate all the corrupt instructors.
In the end,we just need to get a track closer to the GTA to give drivers a closer place to go.
but come on. tests every time we have to renew our licence? well i got lots of time in my hand. but im pretty sure lots of other people dont. when i used to work for someone else i miss a day of work or half day of work i miss a chunk of my paycheck. and for sure you wont be there for half a day.
100km/hr = 100kilometers traveled in 1 hour or 200kilometers traveled in 2 hours
200km/hr = 200kilometers traveled in 1 hour or… 100kilometers traveled in 30minutes.
The only time going faster doesn’t get you some place faster is if you make alot of stops.
In either case that 5-10minutes coming home earlier can make a difference between you having a shitty drive from work/traffic vs relaxing after a busy day at work. I’m pretty pissed when I end up driving 1 hr what should take me 15minutes because of incompetent drivers and rush hours/jams, etc…
The problem is not speed but the whole system as I’ve been complaining about for the last 3 some years. The roads suck and are garbage… the system sucks and is garbage. No I can’t make a difference but at least I can voice my opinion. The government will never approve something that doesn’t make them money.
love the graduating license system thing but one problem. We can’t even get three down as the everlasting drive test strikers are still whining. It costs way to much money to issue special licenses, special plate colors, inspect vehicles running these plate(what make you think half the 240’s here would pass btw) and of course the condition of the roads here in most cases are not suitable for excess speeds.

The government is issuing ‘green plates’ for ‘green cars’ with even perks (special parking spots, special HVO lane privilege even by being by yourself, special discounts, etc…)
Because ‘green cars’ make money and cost money.
As long as it makes the government money it’ll happen. They will never abolish laws or things that will make them not get the money they are getting.
I totally agree with the whole extra grades/classes/licenses = privileges… as well as better roads which I can’t stress enough… this is the sort of thing I was suggesting/whining about for the last 3 years… but … it’s just not going to happen if there isn’t enough people whining about it… plus when it comes to money the government will find venues to silence that opposition.
Just saying… otherwise how Bing outlined it is fantastic but alas. I always talk about the autobahn and Germany… and this and that about roads in Europe… but… if it can work in other countries it could work here… its just that there is a completely different mentality set in place, different government, different drivers.
Even the whole ‘sticker’ every year thing is bullshit… WOW a sticker! Give me a break… its just money money money. The government is getting more than enough money as is… and is trying to suppress/control even more while making even more money. All the double speak about safety/better for you is full of crap imo.
