it would be pimp if someone came to a driftstar practice with a v8 in a s13 this year, and especially if that someone is good at drifting, that would be really interesting to see
Well, it won’t be in an S13, but this 500ZX, or Cou-hundredZX, or whatever you wanna call it, will be making some DriftStar appearances.
350s are everywhere. I swear, you could go outside, spin around 350 times, run in a straight line and trip over one.
I prefer the SBF for this kind of swap simply because it’s nice and small.
The air filter might clear, if I use a drop base cleaner.
But there’s going to be some more old-school induction tricks going on (think 60s NASCAR … if that means anything to you LOL) so clearance won’t be an issue.
Driveshaft was a cake walk. Literally took the Ford spline end, and the Nissan pumpkin end to a driveshaft shop and said “Make these ends into a driveshaft X cms long” Presto one-piece balanced driveshaft.
There’s still a lot to go. This car is going to be heavily modified cosmetically to better illustrate its cougar heart.
And yeah, I was planning on putting an RB25 into the Cougar years ago. But turned out a) RBs are really fricking expensive, and b), the Cougar was rotten.
I want to go back to my roots next though. I bleed Mopar blue, and the sacrilege of using a Ford power plant is still sitting on my conscience.
But I have a big block 383 sitting on the floor and it would fit in the Z31 too. I wanna put it in something a bit bigger, but still JDM. Cressida maybe? Mmm and I know where there’s a set of 383 turbo pistons still in the box for cheap. Hmmm … 6.6LTT in a Cressida?
I have to finish the Z31 first though. I just picked up my cam Saturday (big narsty Lunati, .500" lift, almost 300º duration dual pattern) and that has to go in. Then I can start buttoning everything up. Should be done in a couple weeks, then it’s off to paint.
Drifstar and their new partner team will have tons of one-of-none cars this season.
Mmmm … 340 4-spd 240sx coupe? Costs about $2,500 to build a 300+ hp 340 that will live at redline all day.
driftstar events baby! w00t! ima be there, sideways! and these things better have good drivers, seem like crazy cars!
