Long story short- a good friend of mine got in an accident in that lovely blizzard ice shit storm last weekend and her Mazda got dealt with. So she’s got a nice chunk of change to put down and she’s real into a wrx. Preferred body style would be a hatchback and flared body style. I’m unsure of what years that would be but I think like 10-13? Anyway figured I’d ask you guys about any commonplace issues with this generation, higher mile maintenance, etc. She’ll drive standard but would rather auto.- idk if they even came auto? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks guys
Widebody was '11-'14. WRXs of that vintage only came with a 5spd and as far as the newer body style is concerned, there was a WRX automatic available in '08 only, I believe, but '08 - '10 didn’t have the wider bodywork.
Other than that, uh. . .the '11 - '14 WRX responds really well to mods and has a better (I.E. safer) stock tune than the STi. Reliability is a non issue, but the interior materials are rather cheap and numerous people online have mentioned annoying interior rattles. The stock stereo sucks, but there is a :snky: way to reset the factory head unit’s settings depending on which trim level the car is.
