I can reflash your car via Open Source. However, I will not tune your car. This is just for reflashing your car to let’s say, Stage 1 (no mods) or Stage 2 (catless uppipe and aftermarket downpipe). If you have a specific map you want uploaded, then I can do that for you as well.
We would meet up in the Kingston area and this should take only 10 mins and you would be good to go. I am not responsible for any damage done to you car. You would email me what map you are looking for and what year, model, and transmission your car is; and I will email you back the map for you to look over yourself and see if that’s the one you want.
I can meet up at various locations within an hour’s time from Kingston if you pay for gas and time.
As a precaution, I will download the map you currently have on your computer and save it just in case.
You probably shouldn’t advertise a reflash service of OTS maps that you obviously didn’t build and then claim you refuse to take any responsibility. Furthermore if someone has a map that was built for them I’d like to assume they have some sort of flash capabilities (rather it be Tactrix or AP). A ‘flash service’ that is not ‘tuning’ for $15 for local people seems a bit of a rip. Why not offer the service for free to help out your fellow Shift518 people? Heck, if anyone has a map for any Subaru/Mitsubishi I’ll flash it on for you for free. Everyone knows my custom tuning prices, or Seth’s, and we’re always on here to help. Hang Your Cross - I would advise you to see the ‘Ask a Tuner’ thread. Thanks bye.
What happens if you brick someones ECU after they drive down to Kingston for said $15 flash? :wierd They’re left with a big tow/cab bill getting home or are stuck with no place to store the car.
havent had a problem flashing other people’s subaru’s before…oh well, whatever…i flashed my friends and they said this would be a good idea to make a little cash…for a conservative base map for $15 you really cant go wrong…it’s a hell of a lot cheaper than buying an AP and using one of their off the shelf maps…
Again, you’re saying you aren’t tuning anyone’s car. So you’re pirating someones coding. How is that okay? Did you ‘build’ these ‘base’ maps that you’re putting on cars? If so, why won’t you take responsibility if they’re ‘conservative’ and can’t go wrong with them? It’s not good to put a generic map on anyones car. All it takes is for them to have an intake that alters the maf and then your map can easily turn their car into a ticking time bomb. You should be smarter then that. All it takes is one kid w/ motivation to sue you. I’m sure you don’t have any waivers that you have people sign, and you agree to provide a service for money. Tisk Tisk.
and you can say the same thing about any map whether it’s off the shelf cobb or a pro-tune from XX Tuning. once you modify the car, that the map doesn’t take into account the extra air or fuel or timing or whatever. even tuners have a liablilty stating that they aren’t responsible for anything done to the car and they charge $500+ for tuning
I am using off the shelf maps that are just like Cobb Stage 1 and Stage 2 maps. I send the map to the person if they like it, then I reflash it. I don’t see what the problem is here.
As far as pirating someone else’s work. Are you kidding? Do you not have any pirated software on your computer? Have you not downloaded any mp3’s for free?
It’s not like I am asking $100+ to reflash a car. I am only asking for $15 which is basically just time to do this. I then give the person their stock map (which I download from the car before I reflash) and a log.
hahaha. at least i know not to pirate someone elses maps and try and sell them as my own. i dont claim to “tune” subaru ecu’s and even if i did id at least accept any and all responsibility if i caused irreparable damage to someone elses vehicle by some mistake of my own. even the stock state of tune which is set ULTRA conservative by S.O.A. (subaru of america) has been known to have issues and have vehicles blow up. unless you are willing to take responsibility for altering the ecu parameters on someone elses vehicles id suggest not touching them for your “customers” sake, if not your own.
what kind of credentials do you have to be able to tune someones car this way?
have you taken an EFI 101 class? any training on the 16 bit or 32 bit roms that subaru or mitsubishi use? i HIGHLY doubt it. how about the “training” on how to use romraider, ecuflash, easyecu, enginuity? ive USED them before to datalog my car and adjust certain things but only with people who have some sort of training in that area such as celtic1982citlec or jays05 OR paying 700$ to have my car tuned by a professional… (aka seth st denis formerly of moon performance). even pro’s make mistakes or have unforseen issues when tuning. justins ecu bricked while it was being tuned on his sti. ive received a HORRIBLE tune by a so called pro…
if you’re not building maps yourself and able to datalog and read what the engine is doing you have NO PLACE touching someone elses car.
fine, ill take responsibility for $600 a reflash then. and again tuners don’t even take responsiblity if something were to happen during a street or dyno tune, so what’s your point?
again, im not selling the maps, im selling my time for $15 including the reflash and log of your car. dont see a problem with this. do you guys fight with cobb about their OTS maps too? shit, their maps are free but at the cost of $300-700 for a AP 1 or 2…
this alows the person to flash to stage 1 for some extra power or a base stage 2 map so that then can drive around once they install the uppipe and downpipe and be fine for a while until they want a protune. many people use off the shelf basemaps and have been fine with them.
those of us who have had to shell out $5k+ for either a fucked up tune or brought our car somewhere for a proper tune and paid for it are offended by his “scam”
