I have an old xs750 5 years in the making (im never going to finish it) with the intent of painting it flat army green with the rims/misc components in a gloss black, something akin to the old german military bikes.

Lol its not going to be flat or matte.
I want a nice shiny bike after I wash and wax it, not some fad paint scheme that’s used way too much.
Anyone good at Photoshop wanna give it a go? I don’t have access to it at home so I’m limited to paint…lol.
Fair enough :). Just to mention, flat or matte of colors other than black is NOT played out, not even close. It’s not mainstream, not over done, never hit a peak, etc. I’m betting none or 1 on this site might have something other than primer gray/black. Myth busted!
True, you’re right about the black/gray comment. I just like the look of shiny paint over dull paint, plus I haven’t the patience to deal with washing a matte bike, too much hassle for what it’s worth.
The first bike you showed with the red is pretty pimp.
I’m about 99.7% positive I’ll be doing a similar color red. I just don’t know if I want to do a single center stripe in a cream white or leave it all red.
