Sup, Auto or Manual?

Whats up everyone. In about a year or so I am probably going to go to PITT. I live in houston, tx right now and will soon buy a trans am, but I cant decide whether to get a manual or auto. Is it hard to drive up the hills/mtns. in icy/rainy whether with a manual? Thanks.

Why would you want to go to Pitt if you live in Houston? I’m a Pitt alumni…and I can’t figure that decision. LOL

Welcome to the site.

Manual for fun driving (especially on curvy mountain roads)
Automatic for drag racing

welcome. real men use paddles

Welcome.

Trans Am’s are not meant to be driven in icy/rainy weather but good luck man.

im thinking that since you live in houston icy/snowy/rainy weather isnt going to be your forte. not too mention you want to do it in a FR car.

welcome… get a STICK. i never had problems in the past 8 years of driving a stick.

i started driving a stick about 6 years ago and will never go back.

it gives you such a greater amount of control over the car. it will take some time to get used to, but once you do it is fun.

i like it more in ice and snow because you can feather your clutch to help avoid spinning tires on slick streets.

Welcome!! Stick…

manual and get a good rear end then you are set

Thanks. For the guy who wanted to know, my dad and grandpa went to PITT, so thats how I know about it and want to go there. thanks for ur inputs

welcome, stick.

have you ever driven in snowy, icey weather before?

i hope so, cuz a v8 FR 6-speed on snowy, icey roads can be a handful.

I drove a manual for most of my driving years. Then I moved here from California…I was reeeeeeeeaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyy scared of gettin a MT b/c of the hills, so I got the 5AT. Love it.

And if you are planning on gettin that TA, plan on gettin a beater for winter. Your winter driving skills are gonna be zip, and the winters here can be nasty. I’d hate to see you smash up that TA your first drive in the snow… I don’t drive the Z in the winter AT ALL, hence the A6 we got after figuring out the RWD does not like the snow

If that is your only means of transpo, then I’d consider a winter driving course out at beaveRun.

also, remember that in pittsburgh in the winter, good snow tires can be the difference between getting up the hill and eating the gaurd rail.
