Super Size Me

Well, if he did change his activity then they actually didn’t show that McDonald’s affected his health. They showed that reduced activity and McDonald’s affected his health. And then the question is–to what extent did either of them affect his health. And did eating McDonald’s affect how physically active he was?

Not very valid.

I could so go for a couple double cheeseburgers and a med fry right now.

Come on Corey, are you kidding me? Eat a home cooked meal 3 times a day and dont excersize one time for a month. Im talking about things like chicken, vegetables, steak, shit like that. Is a doctor going to tell you that you’re going to die if you don’t become more active?

My brothers haven’t worked out a day in their life, my mom barely ever fed us fast food and we are all thin and healthy.

i can say that even eating home cooked meals you will gain a good amount of weight while being inactive. when i had knee surgery couldn’t walk for about 5 months and couldn’t drive so there wasn’t too much eating out. i packed on about 20-25 lbs. i agree it is simply showing that if you eat alot of shit and don’t excercise you are going to gain weight. i am decently active as a mechanic (quite a bit of lifting involved and using plenty of muscle) and also play hockey, but i too have stopped eating mc’ds and burger almost completely. i can’t say i’ve lost too much of that weight i put on but i have also gotten more muscle since then. i think the plain and simple fact here is people know greasy fast food isn’t the healthiest for you so you shoulnd’t eat it for a month straight without eating other healthier meals at some point.

So what was the point of the movie?
Foods with a lot of fat are fattening?

Maybe he could make a movie explaining why day time is brighter than night time for anyone that can’t figure out that mystery.

if i remember correctly in the counterpoint movie the person also exercised when eating mcdonalds.

also he did not only aim at mcdonalds he talked about BK and wendys and also how they aimed the tv advertising at children and stuff. he had everything that mcdonalds had to offer atleast once

Here is what I would like to add to this thread.

I hate fat fucks.
Fucking retards that truely eat mcdonalds 5 days a week and use a racal scooter to get around.
I hope that god damn thing breaks and sends them into oncoming traffic.

My problem with that movie was the main idea was so flawed. Yes, if you eat there breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 30 days, you’re going to be in rough shape at the end of the month. But if you’re dumb enough to eat fast food 3 times a day for 30 days, you deserve to die. Really, I’m serious. Eat yourself to death, shoot yourself, toss your ass off a big building, drink a gallon of draino… I really don’t care. Just remove yourself from the gene pool so you can’t pass on your stupidity.

along similar lines is a book called “Fast Food Nation” also very interesting, and after reading that i dont look at fast food the same way anymore.

this wasn’t the point that it got across to me. what struck me was the fact that the shit he was eating was harming internal organs to the point where his doctor was begging him to stop.

i am not going to lie. this movie didn’t get me to stop eating at mcdonalds. it reduced my visits, which were minimal anyway. actually, the only time i really ever ate a mcdonalds was when i was on the road for work. since i just quit that job, it will probably be a long time before i go back.

After watching SuperSize me I had a horrible craving for a Big Mac, so I went out and got one. I don’t eat fast food very often (maybe once a month), and guess what… it wont kill me, or you for that matter. Everything in moderation.

Besides, eating anything 3 times a day for 30 days (even brocolli!) is going to prove to be unhealthy for you. You cannot get all of the vitamins and minerals your body needs from one source.

i remember watching this movie…
enlightening, but i really wanted a big mac after watching it.

come to think of it… i kinda want one now.

Thats what most nutritionists recommend, once a month or less.

The biggest problem is that we live in a franchised nation. Actually, thats not even the main part of the problem. The problem is that out of all the franchised restaurants, maybe 1% of them serve healthy food.

A huge majority of people eat out every day. The options are pretty much always the same and you dont have much of a choice but to eat this crap all the time. Anyone who tries to deny that is a dumbass.

 yea fast food food is like almost not food

the point of the movie was that foods like this are DANGEROUS so much that if you eat them like you would food at home, they will kill you. food like burger king and taco bell is even harmful in small amounts, especially because they contain extremely high amounts of sodium, saturated and trans fats.

I see people on here are saying, " I eat this food and I’m not FAT." well… your arteries are. and if they aren’t, you’re lucky. or you’re lucking for now at least. and no one is superhuman enough to not be affected by the massive amounts of chemicals they mix into their foods.

a lot of it is about portion sizes as well. if you eat large amounts of food at home, you’ll gain weight. if you eat mcD’s once or twice a day, you’ll gain weight. the difference is that mcD’s food contains fats that your body can’t break down, and tons of preservatives and other chemicals to make the food taste better to people and have a longer shelf life. ingredients that you should never expose yourself to.

take a look at what’s in wendy’s “chicken”:

that’s horrible. you shouldn’t feed this crap to your cat or dog.

the worst part is that people don’t care. or if do they care, they might have faith that people wouldn’t poison them with the things they sell them to eat… and they don’t check out the nutrition info, or maybe they don’t know where to look, or they might not know what trans fat IS. anyway. the guy who made that movie probably sacrificed more of his health than he even knows… and I appreciate that.

and the next time you sit down at a mcD’s to eat your biscuit and hashbrown or burger and fries, flip over that piece of paper on your tray.

I don’t see anything in either of those that is all that horrible, other than questioning what part of the chicken the chicken meat all comes from. They have some chemicals in them, but those are typical chemicals that are used in many bread/breaded foods.

Edit: I’m not saying these are GOOD for you… but these specific two itesm really don’t have anything atrocious in the ingredients.

Are you THAT brainwashed? Chicken nuggets should contain: Chicken, Bread crumbs and some spices. NOT a list that is 30 ingredients long.

Yes, but BREAD does not just GROW naturally out of thin air. You do have to make it from other ingredients, which is what most of those ingredients listed comprise.

and that’s great. wendy’s and tim horton’s are 2 of the “better” places you can go to.

I <3 Wendys Spicy chicken sammich…its mmm mmm goood. I have gotten into eatling alot more salads latly…roasted chicken cesar salad with ranch dresing on the side ftw!
