update…stopped by k&s and talked to ray. he will be having one of the guys dismount the tires first thing monday morning so i can take the wheels to be fixed, and then will remount them after if they are able to be fixed. sweet.
It’s my understanding he’s fallen ill and is no longer repairing wheels just an FYI to potential customers.
DARN! Just about to contact him for wheels repair. Got some Work Meister S1 to refinish. Hope he get well soon.
Thats too bad, John is a great guy! We always use him at all of the Towne dealerships. Hope all is well will have to give him a call tomorrow.
I called the number and the message says" until he recovers from surgery, then call some a different number" Is this mean someone else is doing the repair while he’s recovering? Any update?
he has a kid working for him, but i dont know if he does paint too. ive only seen him sanding and prepping the wheels.
hope he gets better, he is a stand up guy.
Just called wheel repair and the guy said 75 to 100 bucks a wheel, not too bad. BUT he wont be able to take it until the fall, lame!
Does anyone around here do 3pc. wheels that need new chrome?
bump…does anyone know if he is still doing this work or have we found someone better? I have 4 wheels that need rash repair.
Thanks.
Kyle,
I just dropped a set of wheels off there mid last week. My contact was “Cort” as John was going to be out of town until the 10th. I am still waiting on an evaluation of my wheels and have yet to see how it will all pan out, but they are definitively still offering services.
Please let me know how it goes Ian…I am interested but have also heard great things about a company in Cleveland called MotoMotion that I might use at the end of the season.
I certainly will, I have a pretty valuable set of wheels there right now that im trying to be fairly cavalier about… so we shall see haha
I have a set of 18"s that have lots of rash I would like to get refinished, let us know how this guy works out
Yeah, I am looking to get my works with dec lips redone…don’t want them hacked worse than they are since they are a fairly expensive option in addition to the wheels themselves.
Just spoke to John, he has my wheels finished two days after he was caught up enough to even look at them. He was able to confidently get the barrels nearly 100% and he even got a nice bend out of one of the polished lips without doing any damage. The total cost was $90per wheel and although I have yet to try and balance the finished product, I am impressed with his skills and customer service, anyone looking for wheel repair should at least talk to John first.
I should see if he can handle my rashed lips…no homo. Lol
If they are obtainable, it might be cheaper just to replace them, but I would inquire about it for sure.
I dont think I want to spend the $ it would cost to replace my Work DDC lips…any repair effort will be better than shelling out the coin.
Just as a small update, I have the wheels back from John and I have to say I am very impressed. I had given him permission to to try and straighten out the decent size bend in one of the outer polished lips despite his apprehension, and the outcome was incredible. I am actually going to have to go home and reference a photo to see where it was because I honestly cannot tell. Along with that there where visual imperfections in the barrels that are now gone, (at least visually) also like I mentioned he charged me less than he quoted, (a nice surprise when you are dealing with a relatively small amount of money) and to top it all off he also dropped them off to me at work due to my insane schedule.
Obviously I will have to spin them to confirm they’re straight, but all in all I am staggered with Johns work and service, he could not have ensured any more confidence when dealing with an expensive set of wheels. I at LEAST owe this gentleman an outstanding review and recommendation to anyone looking to have wheel services preformed:
