Whelp… after a couple months of being a contractor with Ernst and Young… and being told that I was being looked at for a permanent position (talking money numbers and such), I found out today that I’m only staying on through the end of the years or earlier if i decide to leave early. Kinda sucks, and i feel like i was lead on, but at least the wife and I aren’t moving forward any more with our house shopping. It sucks… I don’t want to have to tell her that we can’t get our house, and i’m stuck back at square one. :down: :finger2:

that’s bullshit… this was my fear when telling a recuriting firm that i’d take temp offers… it just sucks… once a company sees it needs money, the first people to go are temp workers… irregardless of their skill…

This time of year I would be looking today for a new job, it’s hard to find a new job at this time of year, even a month down the road after the new year Dec/Jan is a very bad time to look for work.

Man, I’m so close to doing that but man I’m scared to death about losing everything I’ve gained to take that chance…
whats sickening is that i see some people that went this route and make bank… it’s all about connections and scoring good jobs. I know we’re all competent of the work (unlike some people i see trying to get jobs) but, like you, i like my cushy job and expected pay check.
makes me think that we could bank in though… especially if we devote time to customers and get a good base… it’s def. a chance you take.

That’s the thing that kills me is not know how much per week I’m going to bank, getting 500 one week and 4000 the next week would drive me batshit insane. You are right though, Pittsburgh is about connections and most of my connections are through my work. Kind of hard to quit my job here and still try to use those connections. Hard to probe the work through my connections while still keeping a job here.
