EDIT: Fuck. Nevermind. The more time I spend on here the more convinced I become that I’m a masochist. :hang:
this is just a bad idea, see every other episode of every TV court show to see why.
if a bank won’t trust him, you shouldn’t. if the car’s cheap then get a credit card and pay using the card through paypal.
don’t play bank with kids.

Well with that ultimatum idk how you can say no… thats weekly income you will be banking as you retain ownership of a car thats losing value and you gain intrest.
If you oppose that point your just plain stupid.
<- In for the Someone (made 2 payments) stole my car and moved to florida thread.
Make the payment on the car but have him hold the car (still not a great idea) write it all down and both parties sign it. Keep in mind if this kids makes a few payments and then see’s a different car he likes more theres gonna be trouble. I would include something to the extent that if he doesnt take the car after a few payments he owes $xxx for loss of deposit or something.
I dont think anyone intends to default on a loan but…shit happens

Dude, I would wait until you got the cash. It makes it so much easier for everyone, and no risk of anyone being fucked over. Or if you really want the car is it possible for a family member to loan you the money so you get to give the guy cash and you would have a bit more freedom to pay it off? I’m 16 and I just went through a very similair situation with my Z32. Trust me, cash is smartest.

He will now have equity for the first time which later may go towards a house or maybe even collateral towards a bigger loan.

or he will start a neverending spiral into impulse buying with credit he can’t repay.
