i bought a used gas tank for my cbr. and it had gas in it for 8years.
this left a sludge in the tank got it out. most of it. i used carb dip.since then i have ran two tanks full
off gas thru it. and the bike started to sputter with the comtaninates in the tank.
i went to slifin the gas out so it can be painted. i noticed a film on hte
inside of the tank. before i got most of it off. now i have another layer
and i cant reach my hand in it either to scrub it.
does any one know what to use to clean it all the way? i know carb dip will
work but i dont think it will clean it throughly.
does anyone kdnow a place i can take it to. to get cleand if that is the last resort
and idea of prices.
i usually put gas in the tank, let it sit, then swirl it around and dump it out–repeat as neseccary.
there is a place in greensburg that does gas tanks. we have sent old rusted out bmw tanks to them, and them come back looking like new. gotta find out the name and info…
i would appreciate it. i have been doing the swirling around with
gas. the coating is gritty. like i can stick a screwdriver down in it and
scrape the shit off but, i cant reach totally in it.

x2 i have used carb cleaner to clean grease and tar off my door jambs and engine bay after 15 + years of crap… came out really nice that stuff is strong
Originally posted by Darkstar dump about a half gallon of gas in it, throw in some nails, rocks and flint, then seal it off. Shake vigorously.
:nono: be nice!!
