I did do a search so forgive me if I missed somehting covering this…
There are alot of people on here with tats so im looking for some thoughts…
I am ready to get my third tat (after a year of planning and design). Its nothing complicated (a nautical coumpass, wrapped with ivy and two smaller nautical 4 point stars on either side) that will be on the inside of my bicep (so it will rest against my body and not be exposed unless my arms are raised).
My question is this… I am going to Aruba on the 18th for a family vacation and have been tanning to prepare (so that i dont get burned. for the record, i hate tanning lol). Should i wait on this tat, or will two weeks be a sufficent wait time for a tat that is covered naturally by my body. It will rarely be exposed to the sun, and I can cover it during peak sun hours. It will be all black ink so it will rest as deep in the skin as a tat will set. My base tan should prep my skin for exposure, and i will be wearing sunscreen (spf30).
Should I wait or just do it now. This is a piece of a VERY important tattoo for me (for those of you from UBRF you’ll remember my stabbing incident about a year and a half ago) so im impatient to get it. That more or less makes the case to wait on it too though… so if its not in any danger to get messed up on me i would like to do it now.
Thoughts?
CLIFFS!!!
Want my very important tat asap after a year of design but its 2 weeks before a vacation to a sunny spot. Tat will be black ink on the inside of my L bicep. Bad idea to do it now?
wait on it and ull be glad, u have the rest of your life to wear it, i think u should wait til u get back, itll def be worth it, especially with the meaning of the tat as i remember the story
i think you’re right. i think i was looking for someone to be like ‘hey im an expert! i did it and it worked fine’… or something like that. haha. its going to look good though. ill post pics when i get it
meh. just put sunscreen on it. 2 weeks is enough for it to heal-ish, then if you keep it covered it should be straight. you can always get it darkened later down the line (it will fade anyway).
they say that 3 weeks is the complete heal time for a tattoo, be smart let it heal. if u go in the sun u could damage ur skin and tattoo and they will look like shit man
lol im here in rochester. Im going to Bob at Physical Grafitti. He did my last one and I was very happy with how it turned out. Other suggestions would be appretiated though. The actual tattoo is pretty straight forward, the interesting stuff will be the detail work on the shading of the compass points and the ivy wrapping design.
considering my artist doesnt come back from transylvania till june, and thats when my last appointment is, im gonna have a pain in the ass time keppin it out of the sun.
