Due to the massive amount of resistance to the TDI->LS1 trade, I decided it was a wise choice to test drive the car I’m considering trading for. This test drive is a temporary trade, for 3 days.

Report:
I drove the car approximately 100 miles today. Car drives strait and true, however at 80 miles an hour the steering wheel shakes a bit indicating the tires need re balancing. The car is very comfortable and the stereo in it is very nice. The turbo whistle is loud but not overbearing. There are some obvious flaws with the car that need addressing first but nothing major.
Power… The car hauls ass for being a 1.9L turbo diesel. However that being said, I’m in tears over the loss of my torque+powerband of the LS1.
Overall, for a commuter car its pretty sweet. The things got torque and it sounds really nice. Cruises comfortably, and after 110 miles, the car is still at full. I’m not completely convinced yet.
Dude I spent like an hour cleaning all his fucking garbage out of the car. The guy is a typical white trash mechanic haha. I’ll eventually think about buffing those and cleaning them, IF i end up trading.
It’s called a sledgehammer or “hammerhead” turbo, it’s some garret vnt 20/22 or 17/18 hybrid deal. It’s the new hot setup for Tdi fags that are making big powa. To be honest, after owning a Tdi for 7 years now, I should have just bought a Honda. My car was decent for about the first two years I owned it, now I would put it in the same class as a 1992 Hyundai excel.
Thanks for the info, and yeah but dude every car sucks dick after a while too. I really and enjoying the drive ability of this car over my f-body. I’ve owned my fair share of Audi’s(3) Subaru’s(2), a Toyota, a ford and now this Pontiac. The audi’s were okay, the pontiac and the subaru’s and toyota were okay.
if you live in the area id love to go for a ride in it…
with 300k on my stock turbo i was debating on getting the “hammerhead” turbo… and supporting mods.
and more money on mait then the f-body :BS: as long as he is just using it to commute the car will be awesome for him. its not a race car its a fun to drive Corolla (efficient, comfortable, seats 4, and has phenomenal resale)
i dont get it :gotme:
dont u go to fuckin highschool? Why do you need to drive 400miles per day?
FBOD. this trade sucks, dont buy other peoples problems
Why would you spend money on fixng/making a car reliable, and then trade it away for a car with MORE problems, that you have no idea about
