Teledoc... anyone use it?

It sounds like the way of the future and pretty convenient & low cost but what have you experienced?

(I am exploring different products for my employees and thought this one looked good.)

I don’t know. I find it a crap shoot to try to diagnose peoples car problems on a forum without seeing the car and performing tests and that is with decent info.

Trying to diagnose the human body and health maladies over the phone or video conference, while sounds great could be hazardous to your health. A doctor is a one on one consultant with intimate knowledge about you. Anyone else would just be guessing and I think you’d be better off using webMD.

my first though is: can this do any better than a google search? dumb people will have to go to the Dr. regardless, smart people can do a google search and might still have to go.

They do have your medical records so if you have conditions they can factor that into their diagnosis. It seems like a big time saver if you know it is something common but you need the nod from a doctor. The drug companies have got to love it, in fact I wouldn’t be surprised if they subsidize it. lol

Samething with me and computers. I really need to be in front of it to see what’s going on. This is probably something I wouldn’t invest much time in.

Doctors are mechanics…

They look at all possible issue, then assign tests to illuminate / diagnose the most possible outcomes. It really isn’t anything new… could be solid for people who have half a brain.

Stupid people will always be stupid and to go to an actual person for help.

How long before smart phones take all of your vitals and do blood tests instantly?

Not long:

There are a number of situations this would save time and money with.

A lot of people see their primary doctor just to get scheduled for tests somewhere else or a referral to a specialist

Sidenote: I fixed the typo in my title but it does not correct in the new posts listing. Weird.

+1
I give Dr’s a lot of credit for the amount of knowledge required for the job, but to that end not all Dr’s are top of the class TV or NYSpeed Dr’s.
The world is constantly changing and I find it very hard to believe that doctors spend their free time reading up on research.

I love taking the kids in to the Dr only to have them spit back what I have found online. I think Dr’s HATE engineers. Worst patients/parents ever.
Nothing like spending $80-$100 for verification.
