How crazy is it that the day after the blast we can watch it?
Why don’t we cringe when the explosion goes off?
Do you guys care that much given that it was in Russia?

After 10 years of war in Afghanistan and Iraq I’ve been totally desensitized to suicide bombers on the other half of the globe. Sigh…
But really though I don’t really care because it’s probably their own internal issue as discussed above, not a flare up of Al Qaeda somewhere. Not really relavent to this country.
definitely some really valid points,…
WAT?
dude… it was 9:30am when you wrote that… you sleep yet?
And you’re magic fix
limiting the attack surface
^cool
buahahaha i freaked the f*** out… fixed now bingy sorry about that
And here we go with the video game connection: Russian Media Points to Moscow Airport Attack in U.S. Video Game - The New York Times
It’s all relevant to our country. Russia dealing with terrorism from it’s republics distracts them from Iran; Without Russia on board, the US can’t really do anything to hinder Iran and ultimately hinder threats of destabilization to the region. And that means Israel could get more itchy to take action which draws the US in. And then you’re paying more for gasoline, lol.
That’s a “butterfly flaps it’s wings” style analogy of course but you can never fully discount these foreign events from effecting us in some way.
He’s Russian and speaking in that context. I needed to read it twice though.
Janet Napolitano (homeland security secretary) was just in Israel at their airport reviewing how they do things… and determined the US is too large of a country for their methods to work. :meh:
What does a women know about homeland security??
Onyx, surprising how you have a pretty accurate understanding of whats going on in Russia
Yeah I suppose. Once China’s economy is bigger than ours they automatically become Sherriff of Earth right? We need some time off to slap our bankers around and that would be a lot easier if we didn’t have to worry about keeping the world’s oil supply stable.
Translated, she saw that they racially profile the shit out of anyone entering the airport and knew our PC lawyer filled society would have a field day if we ever tried that here. The Israeli system works great because it’s perfectly acceptable for them to pay closer attention to the 19-30 year old single Muslim male than the Christian family of 4. In the US if you don’t randomly screen as many 5 year olds as you do bearded Islamic guys someone gets sued. Common sense is not allowed in our system of security profiling.
China - Earth Sherrif… lol
I’m really a Russian spy sent here to take over your internet forums…
China will never take that roll. As with most communist countries they’ll be too busy dealing with domestic problems… and Taiwan, lol.
And another consequence of this is now we are hearing talk about how to protect the arrivals area at airports and possibly screening that too.
And our bankers traded shitty paper because… well that’s a conversation for another day
It’s not really racial profiling though, it’s behavioral profiling. Americans always assume “racial” is attached to “profiling.” But regardless everyone is subjected to eye-to-eye questioning that I’m not sure we could train TSA workers to effectively do…
It’s true though that we tend to always inconvenience everyone because of the actions of a few just so we don’t have to “hurt anyone’s feelings.”
One article claims Israels system it’s not race based. A mountain of evidence and prior admissions say otherwise.
I’m not saying it’s a bad thing. I applaud them for having the common sense to say if a large percentage of your attempted attacks came from one ethnicity you should use that statistic in your security planning. Just saying that legally that’s not allowed under current US laws and good luck ever changing that here.
Everyone being treated equal is why security at our airports is such a clusterfuck.
I’ve never really seen much of a difference in security at foreign airports, other than not all countries make you take your laptop out. Oh and one time I was flying home from Uruguay with a zeolite sample (think synthetic clay BB’s) in an unmarked plastic vial with black electrical tape wrapped around the cap. The security guard asked me what it was and if it was dangerous. I said no, so she shrugged and said “OK” and put it back in my bag and sent me on my way.
The security at our airports is fine, though a bit invasive. But that’s because of our current safety-oriented culture. Company came up with a better scanner, went to the TSA and said “hey I’ve got a better scanner it will make flying safer”, nobody in government is going to take the liaibility of saying “no thanks we’re safe enough it’s not worth it”, so now TSA gets a look at my nuts every time I fly.
Why aren’t all of the planes controlled from the ground? Seems like a simple solution to me. :gotme:
Terrorists would be limited to only killing those on board, not people in sky scapers - not worth it. They could move on to shopping malls and other easy targets instead. :gotme:
I’ll keep my pilot on board, thanks. :io:
You can still have pilots.
If people think the TSA is there to keep them safe from terrorists they are only kidding themselves. Terrorists could much easier kill 80,000 people at the Super Bowl in a couple weeks. Touching my junk is not the answer. Just sayin.
