Anyone who lives in Riverbend knows that you gotta take this on-ramp off of whitemud pretty much every day. Anybody try to see how fast they can take it? My friends dad claimed he did it 110km/h in his SL55 AMG… but he might be exagerating. My physics teacher went out there and measured the angles and said that the “normal” car can take it at around 90 before spinning out or smokin the outside curb.
Personally I’ve only taken it at 75km/h cuz it’s scary…
I do take it regulary, when i got my federals on brand new during +30 weather, I did hit the apex of that corner between 85-90 kmh regular before… Your science teacher might be a little off…
when i used to come out to your house i would always tak that corner hard i would wait for people a head of me to get far enough away so i could speed up lol
mmm fun corner, especially on a bike, scary in my car though, i dont relaly look at my speed though cause well, not the best idea while in the middle of a turn.
and those SL55’s are pretty hawt cars, but 110 i dunno…
I am sorry to tell you this… But I have done the Groat road downhill at over 140km/h. The reason I know it was over 140 is because I hit the rev limiter in 4th gear. Then I nearly killed some people in a firefly… And I will likley never do that again. This was in the race car mind you, at night… with what I thougth was no traffic. The cause of this stupid driving was female related. 110-115 is not hard to pull on groad if you know what your doing and there is no traffic.
That’s not much of a stretch. I’ve done it at 100 using both lanes in a Caprice Classic on Blizzaks, while trying to keep up to a Boxster. This was uphill though. Yep I was big pimpin in high school with the Caprice Classic!
i did 85 km/h in my cobalt and any faster the car began to slide so i slowed down totally but ive seen a viper take it at a high speed and hit the rail and destroy the car hehe that was an wicked view :finga:

wow try and keep a consistant 140km/h all the way throughout the downhill, not just for the 3seconds on the staright!! and if u think u can, ill be there behind u downhill in my winter car all over u lol … a consistant 110 down and a consistant 120 up…i can only go 10-15 faster in my silvia than in my winter wagon…its always good to shoot for low numbers, because when u crash trying to keep with the numbers u claim, ill be laughing and i told u so…this happened too a couple ppl i know after i asked them, and they were reputable drivers…are u next??..lol…oh boy…
This is where the whole drifting vs. real driving thing comes into play I guess. I can maintain 110+ no problem thew those corners man, with both lanes to work with its not a problem at all. I am not planning on joining the groat road club any time soon. There are far to many people in that group all ready. A really well setup car shouldn’t be out of shape at all tell around 130+ km/h on groat with a good dirver IMO.
As for the Drifting vs. Real racing… If you think you can do a better time at the next NECC event drifting then I can in my daily driver grip driving. We should put some money down and see who ends up on top. I am currently waiting on tires, if they are not in for this event then we can go at it at the next one. The ITR is completely stock except for a spoon drop in filter and rear strut bar. Tires will be Azenis 615s or Hankook Venus RS2 Z212s depending on what I can get in first.
Picture of the race car as of May 2005 in the padock of Pacific raceways, near Kent, Washington where I was attending the Proformance Race School.
As you can see on my previous post, I have made no comment to which is faster or claimed any kind of challenge. I am very well aware of what is what. I simply stated that you should not start another pointless argument like a regular tool does on these forums every time somebody mentions “drift vs. grip” bs. The topic has been discussed to death and we all are very well aware of it.
Stop making assumptions and label everyone as a “drifter” or get that “drifters dont know anything about lappingor real racing” mentality out of your head. Its very ignorant and annoying.
I am glad you got something to prove and you are trying very hard for it. I’ll see you on September event as in my car will be in for a boost leak fix on aug 12 in Calgary.
