Thank God, change is finally here.

:word:

i thought the same thing i just stopped listening to him after like 2 minutes

did you think he was going to change his core message and say “oh, by the way, lets give the rich some more tax cuts, I’m sure they’ll share! and why don’t we hang out in iraq for another decade.”

Thats just it, he can do no wrong. He can totally fail and everybody will still worship the black messiah

I’m sick of people saying we need an african american president, this is so historic… Hes 6.25% Black, 43.75% Arab, 50.00% White. Hes more Arab American than African American. Do you people just turn on the news and write down that they say or do you have a brain and think for yourselves. Amazing what an influence the media is in this country

Bottom line whats done is done, he’s the next President all we can do is go along for the ride and “hope” things improve. Hopefully in 4 years people will come to their senses and things won’t be worse than they are now.

Please, having a national event like this that can make people feel good and can give hope to people and there is nothing wrong with that. Tomorrow the real work begins. And I will be just as critical of him as the next guy if he doesn’t hold up on some of his promises.

Comparing this to buying a pizza shows you know absolutely nothing of the importance of this event. Since you hate the guy you can’t understand why people, especially blacks weep for this moment. There are over 2 millions reasons why to have this event in Washington right now and millions across the country glued to the TV’s watching it.

Again you know nothing of what this event means to people so there is no way you can understand why the costs mean nothing.

Value of event>costs.

I hope your also against the super bowl parade as well otherwise you are just a hypocrite

I thought his speech was good, full of serious poignant statements and less rhetoric. I hope that he can be our best president only time will tell. I do hope that he repeals the patriot act as promised but I highly doubt that will happen.

If/when he fails I’ll say “He failed. I had high hopes, but he failed.”

HEY YOU, ASSHOLE: THE MAJORITY OF THE MONEY IS FOR ADDITIONAL SECURITY AND SERVICES BECAUSE MILLIONS OF PEOPLE SHOWED UP.

what? explain.

Who pays for the superbowl parade?

It’s funny how the 398 million dollar bridge to nowhere was one of the key points to the democrats whitehouse bid, but a 180 million dollar feel good party is just what the country needs.

And it starts… you won’t ban him…

WTF are you talking about

I don’t pay for the SuperBowl with my taxes. I also don’t go out spending money that I DON’T have.

Who pissed in your Cheerios? Yea, that’s great. Have a smaller ceremony and don’t let the large amount of public show up.

Quoted to show I wasn’t the one that got aggressive in this topic.
Ban???

how the hell is the spending breakdown of the inaugural party off topic from the inauguration?

Fundraising

Preparations at the capitolUnlike in political campaigns, there are no legal restrictions on the amount that one can contribute to an inaugural celebration. The 2005 inauguration saw numerous corporations contribute $250,000 to George W. Bush’s second inauguration, which cost an estimated $42.3 million,[26] while Obama’s inauguration is expected to cost $40 million from Obama’s Presidential Inaugural Committee[27] and “near $50 million” from the city.[28] As the costs have soared to over $150 million for the District and neighboring states[26] (another estimate[29] suggests $170 million or more in total), such as Maryland where the costs are over $11 million,[30] Barack Obama’s inauguration committee (Penny Pritzker, John W. Rogers, Jr., Pat Ryan, William Daley and Julianna Smoot) set a $50,000 contribution limit to underscore their “commitment to change business as usual in Washington”.[31] As of January 6, 2009, the committee had raised over $27 million and at least 378 people gave the maximum $50,000, including George Soros, Halle Berry, Jamie Foxx, Sharon Stone, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Ron Howard, George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis and Jim Henson’s daughter Lisa Henson.[32] Although the committee is not accepting donations from PACs, federally registered lobbyists, or corporations,[33] they are accepting donations from individuals with active lobbying interest such as Google and Microsoft executives Eric Schmidt and Steve Ballmer, respectively.[32]

:mamoru: Dude. I think you forgot to put it in pink comic sans ms font. You’re not serious?

Exactly, all talk…

Although I was unable to vote, I would have voted for Obama. Why? I have no fucking idea. Maybe it is because I do not know the first thing about politics, how
they work, or who stands for what…So color me at least %50 of the people my age who voted. The guy talks a good game and makes me wonder.
