Thank God, change is finally here.

Assuming he lost fare and square who gives a shit, there would be no reason to be outraged.

At the end of the day this will be determined by his actual presidental actions in the coming years. As Obama said in his speech we are facing great hardships to overcome as a result of neglect or poor judgment/actions, regardless this will be a long road to recovery. He is well educated, starting in columbia and then on to become a harvard grad. I’m not saying this ensures change will be for the better you can only hope he leads his party in the right direction. His speech was not the norm, I felt it touched more then just economy, healthcare, SSC, and war; but it also adressed education, and the duty of parents in the US to guide their children in the right direction to better themselves and instill morals. Which I find to be a growing problem.

Did he speech talk about overcoming typical washington politics and beaurocratic red tape?

you watch… as soon as he does something good all the dumbasses in the this thread will switch their one-liner to: “everything was so bad that anybody could have made things better”

Yeah I think he touched on that.

You mean they’re gonna deviate from their typical “The republicans actually fixed everything, it just took until they were out of office to take effect”?

Socialism is great to prevent innovation and to help the lazy out.

Socialism is great to prevent innovation and to help the lazy out.

It takes a lot of courage to stand up and say “Things will not get better.”

Beats lying to a nation.

Perhaps you missed my sarcasm. I wasn’t talking about Obama.

I have the flu…I am not 100% there…there should be a “sarcasm” font.

You could lead a horse to water…

Change SHOULD also start at the lower level and go up the top. But you try to get the person on welfare that doesn’t go out looking for a job and only milks off society to get motivated. You get the CEO to drop his wage in order to cut company costs and “relate” to the financial hardships his employees are going through. You get the person that gets approved for a $250,000 mortgage that goes and buys a house for $250,000 and overextends his credit and is financially irresponsible.

Those who are upset about the cost have just a cynical view of Obama no matter what.

The value of this event outweighs the cost.

Watch the news right now of the parade to the White House, people are cheering with joy, thats what we need right now, not you cynics out there who are still upset for loosing and can’t feel good about this moment.

It is a great time to be an American.

They’re upset for losing. They’re scared of disappointment.

That would be awesome. I think it would be that bright pink yambag font.

Obama’s going to cure cancer after he makes Israel and Gaza hold hands.

I like that Obama is actually standing up and saying, “We are all going to need to make some sacrifices.”, even though it is the unpopular decision. We simply can’t afford to keep cutting taxes on the businesses and people that pay the most of them, spending like crazy on foreign policy and maintaining the war, while at the same time trying to fix the economy.
From here forward, with every additional dollar spent, there should be a sign off, “Will this help the economy?” If it’s no, then don’t do it.
Public works projects? Yes, they create jobs and provide needed items to society.
Tax cuts for the lower and middle class? Yes, they stimulate the economy because poor people spend over 100% of the money they take in.
Tax cuts for job creation? Yes. Goes without saying.
Education spending? Yes. Education is the only advantage we have in a global job market.
Science? Yes. Science holds the keys to emerging industries and the chance to reassert ourselves as the global superpower in the next generation.
Iraq? NO!
Expanding Medicaid? No. At least not right now. Pinch the supply side of these healthcare services a bit once people start losing their health insurance.
Financial bailout? Yes, in a far different form from how we did the first go round. Either buy the assets off the banks directly and set up a government trust to hold all the crap, or make them provide documented proof of how bailout funds are spent. No more blank checks. The first round was proof of why trickle-down economics doesn’t work. You give the big guys the money, with the idea that they pass it on to the little consumers. Except, they just pocketed it. Just like the big guys did with the Bush tax cuts that we blew our Clinton surplus on.

Bullcrap! As I probably have said. I would have complained about the cost no matter who won. A party like that isn’t going to fix anything. It’s a feel good band-aid that will probably result in nothing other than $180 million added to our debt.

You want to feel better, go buy yourself a pizza. A temporary feel good.

I’ll feel better when the party is over and he fixes what he promised to do. Until that, the party is meaningless to me. It gives me the same feeling as getting a bowling trophy. It’ll sit on my shelf of memories, but I’m still not a pro bowler.

Actually no. I just don’t have blinders on and am not setting myself up for the fail. If he accomplishes what he says, I will be happy alongside with everyone else. So many promises, and so much more to let people down with.

wait… so do you want trickle down or trickle up economics? I can’t tell. If you want change at the bottom you’ll need to make an investment AT THE BOTTOM. we just tried 8 years of trickle down, and the money didn’t move an inch.

I’m not upset for losing…I am upset at the blind optimism and false sense of hope this country has wrapped up in one man.

What are you lovers going to say if/when he fails?

Its impossible to get anything done in Washington?

The system is corrupt?

He did his best?

Bush screwed things up so bad noone could fix it?

Give me a break. He is human…he can’t walk on water like so many of you seem to think.
