the Actual Work-Out thread

you’ve told me yourself you’ve competed in clean and press at a professional level

if I was taking a challenge where I’d have a clear and distinct advantage, my only options would be a dick measuring contest or a grappling only contest.

Don’t be a tool you queerbag you know I was talking about the lift being close to what i need to compete in powerliting events. Like local and regional stuff. Does not change the fact that you are gonna get yo ass whopped. The only competition I have done were over a year ago and it was army powerlifting. Which does not matter cause we are doing lil fggy events like burpee to pullup and not real men events like dealift lol.

So how does one get rid of this side/back fat action I can’t seem to get rid of? I have been back to the gym for about 2 months. I do cardio for at least 45 min 2 times a week. This shit just doesn’t go away!

DEADLIFTS!!!

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu no lifting tonight :frowning:

Diet + HIIT + Circuit Training

After a month or so they wont make you sore really. I am actually doing back tonight since I somehow didn’ make it to the gym for three days :frowning:

no time tonight to go, otherwise there would be deadlifts.

You can still lift heavy even with your back all fucked up?

The scar tissue is already there. Not going to change anything according to doc. Actually since I started lifting really heavy and not running all the damn time my back feels a ton better!

have you seriously looked into local powerlifting events? i am serious about getting into squat bench deadlift type events but havnt found anything other than qualifiers for national events. i just wanna get my feet wet. i need to gain about 75lbs on my bench to be competitive in the 181 class tho.

i have some pretty sweet (for me) excel charts i made up for power lifting type routines and some higher rep off season routines if anyone is interested and trying something new out.

For Buffalo I have not looked, out in Seattle we have like monthly ones and strongman stuff. I do more mid rep/superset/bodybuilding type stuff but every 3rd week I do a power week and my lifts are not bad at all. What are you benching right now? Also dead and squat. I really want to do strongman stuff not really to compete just cause it is so freaking sweet.

yeah it is, powerlifting is sweet!

im not in this kinda shape now as i just cycled back on to my training season, but @176lbs i benched 300, squated 400, and deadlifted 530. my tentative goal is triple body weight squat and deadlift and dbl bench press. compared to usapl i can almost qualify at the national level but my bench is killing me! my arms are too long.

i just ended my off season training 2 weeks ago, and my bench is about 30lbs higher than my previous off season/in season stop/start - so im off to a good start.

btw, i only use a weight belt, and when squating heavy knee wraps. no wrist wraps here.

LOL we should train together i just started lifting again two months ago after almost a year off and i put up last week 315 bench 405 squat and 495 dead but I am about 195lbs right now but dropping weight is not hard for me. I expect to see good gains for a few more months as I just started lifting heavy again. I did a clean and press of 225 which I thought was super badass too.

youre definitely too strong for me.

yeah thats solid start. 225 clean and press aint no joke! if you can drop down to 181 w/o losing much stength for competition youd probly do pretty well. i think 1250 was the qualifying total for 181 S/B/D.

the rules for benching are all new this year. feet have to be flat on the ground now! no more crazy tip toe stances.

how tall are you?

Ugh… i feel like shit! being a hard gainer sucks! :frowning: But im lazy too, if i had no car payment i would probly be able to put some size on, i try to eat and eat and eat but i dont feel like cooking in the house, so instead i get a meal thats calorie dense like BK Burgers! UGH!!! I used to do deadlifts i feel they are very important, i could usually tell the next day my back felt thicker and my traps seemed a little bigger too.

deadlifts are so fun for me… its just like “see that weight there, pick it up” kinda in your face strength, you either can or cant. i love it.

i am a really hard gainer too. but ive managed to gain about 40lbs in the past 4-5 years or so. i am dead broke cooking and eating 4-6 meals a day.

Im 5’10" and those were completed lifts although im sure under strict guidelines it would be lower. Im not even stronger then you lol. Where do you train? Although to be honest 1250 does not seem hard at all but 181lbs might be hard for me.

Deadlifts and clean and press are my fav lifts just cause they are so brutal and man strength.

Just keep training not sure how old you are but all of the sudden at 23 it became way easier for me to put on and control weight.

i usually do have working sets of 7-3 reps, usually ending around 70-90% of my max, and its been working well, but lifting with you would be hard bc your bench and squat are so much more stout.

there is a significant step up to the next class above 181.5 i believe its somewhere around 200lbs total, ill dbl check. and also thats just what you have to total in a qualifying event, the good dudes are totally sick nasty and like 5’6" with perfect bone structure for lifting heavy.

i train in my best friend’s father’s basement, ha. its free, close to home and impressive.

here is my 530 deadlift vid and a shot of the training area.

turns out i was way off. its 1500 for 181, i was confusing it with my total, 1230! and its only 75lb jump into 198.

edit:

and for those interested here are my current routines. i can email them if youd like. anyone with lifting experience feel free to offer advise/suggestions. im always open to hear what has worked well for other people. ive got around 6 years of on and off lifting experience and 2 years of heavy power lifting, so these two charts of literally a culmination of 8 years of trial and error with my own self/situation.
