This is a clients car and has been pretty well covered over at Cayman Club but we felt that it needed some press here as well…
This car has more modifications that I am probably privy to but here is a short list…
Complete Custom Widebody Carbon/Kevlar Body Kit(gone through 2 phases, currently sporting a GT2 front bumper(not pictured))
X51 Engine(we didnt do the install but we are doing the tuning and getting proper use of the Variocam system)
Full GT3 Braking System(Converted to Carrera S uprights to run full GT3 System including AP Racing 2 Piece Rotors)
PSS10s(soon to be JRZ Double/Pro) with our full sway and link treatment)
GT2 Seats
Wide as all get out HRE Wheels.
And last but not least… A complete Cayman S Turbo System custom fitted to a 997 3.8 X51 Engine… Dyno Tested to 461 at the wheels(our goal is 550whp)
This is a place holder that I will continue to update as we move forward on the Project!

For what this must cost why not upgrade to something like a gt3?

because when you can afford this you get what you want, not what is most cost effective.
the mid engine layout of the cayman is considered a better car than any of the 911 family, but lacking in power.

And what makes you think a GT3 is better than a modded Cayman? The Cayman S is hotter physically than a GT3 imo and it handles about the same.

X51 is an uprated turbo engine, factory go fast option.

no, X51 is a 20hp upgrade package for the NA carrera motor.

It’s rumored that Porsche held back on the Cayman so as to not usurp the 911 crown.
i like the cayman alot… i think its a realistic car to shoot for someday

oh the things i would do if i had the money.
They’re like $50,000 for full leather int. Cayman S. That’s an AWESOMELY epic price for a midengined porsche with a chassis better than the GT3.

As much as I hate most of your posts your some what right. I don’t think the chassis is better than the gt3 but that the chassis layout is better than the gt3’s. I like the looks of it a lot and more so then a lot of other Porsche. When money is no issue I would rather have a full race than a full race gt3. A gt3 is pretty much already full race, where is the fun in that. Well I love them both and that car is sick.
