The "flawless" GT-R has a flaw! Oh noes!

If your signing the contract where you agree that your warranty is voided if you install after-market items in the vehicle what law is being broken? There is no Magnuson-Moss act if you willingly sign it away. 'Course I don’t know all the intricacies of it not dealing with it first hand so I may be slightly off.

you know what? you have to pay to play with big boy toys. ive learned that very quick on my own car. its not a GT-R, but still. if youre worried about maintaining and insuring a car, its not for you. you want a car like THAT? get ready to spend money, thats all there is to it.

OK “BOYS” here goes.
I am older, gray hair, and I do work on my own car …and by the way I own a GTR (WOOSH)
I have been racing since Go Karts at 12 yrs. old…I still race in PCA, SVRA & HSR.
Talk about you guys stereotyping, it’s like me saying that all young people with piercings are low life’s…WOW.
I have owned many high end cars both domestic and foreign…it is always up to the dealer to go to bat for you if there is an questionable situation. No, I did not have to sign a paper about the brakes, yes they want us NOT to modify the car. Of course they want us to buy the pads and rotors together…there trying to SELL us.
No the US car does not have the limiter or the track shut down feature.
All cars have the "black box " since 2007 (performance versions).
This car has an enormous amount of new technical innovation’s…and yes there is bound to be some problems.
If the car is laid up they DO have to give us another car to drive.
I will be taking it to the track as I am National Driving instructor an have axis to the track as needed during “driver education” days. Yes I will also be driving it 24/7 in the winter as well(and of course to “CRUISE”). Most of my cruising takes place in the Helderbergs and the Catskills in early morning though.
I did not buy the car to be “SEEN” but for the latest and greatest performance features you can possibly get on ANY car at even close to the 70K price, it makes my 997 GT-3 look sick in many areas…and I only hope it is as reliable as my 2000 Audi s-4 was(for sale if anyone asks).
So any more questions …just ask …don’t presume just because I have money that I have not spent my life without bruised knuckles and dirty hands…it only shows
how short sided and opinionated you make yourself out to be.
Before Turbo’s, chips, and superchargers we had headers and Mallory distributors…Holley carbs and traction bars, ect.
It was no different for us than is is for you, just different tools. One things for sure, when your hooked on speed …it’s a life sentence…enjoy it…I have and always will. :cool

Pics or ban Jewels

Hey Jewels, I was one of the guys that met you at Guptil’s tonight. Post up an introduction thread! The clown that was with me was Swifty on here.

What’s up Jewels, I saw your car tonight at the Guptil’s show as well. Very very sick car man!!! It’s such an awesome car in person. :bowdown

yea nice car man! saw it today. may i be the first one to ask… can i get a ride in this car someday?

also, pm sent.

here we go with the rides again

PCA…which region? Nation instructor…run much with Daniel Jacobs??? Sterotyping?..we have plenty of gray hairs here and enough red run group track stars to boot as well. No need to go waving flags here. Welcome aboard though in any manner :nod

GTR = nice car, just not the taste some are looking for in a performance car, myself included. I’d take your 997 over the GTR anyday, hands down no delay. Raw and pure with no electronic BS to step in and take over. To you the GTR is a work of art. To me it’s a bloated two ton whiz kart, much like a 996 Turbo. I’d still drive the balls off it, but won’t appreciate it as much as a tweaked 930 or something of that nature. Just my opinion, no reason to get all flustered over it…

Welcome to the forums man.

Yeah,uh, :giggedy can I get a ride too? :banana :lmao

welcome to the site jewels!

I am the one that wanted to know if you were adopting. Cause… if you get hammered sometime and need someone to drive the GT-R home, just let me know. ;D

way to scare the guy away with all the requests for rides… :nono

welcome!! Saw the pics of your car that were posted in the guptils thread, very nice. Fav color for the GTRs.

welcome to the site. yay for audi :excited heheh. you know, im wondering about the gtr. this is a new car and has a crapton of electronics in it, pretty much in every bit of the car, right? how do you mod them so that they dont throw codes and such? obd2 cars are a PITA to start with and this is VERY new, ya know?

Ahhh, I’d love to see the car in person… Any chance of that, I don’t care about a ride… I’ve been hoping for someone around here to get one so I can actually get a good look at it…

Same here, I’d love to see this in person. The only one I’ve seen is at the NYC auto show.

there was one at the car show for cancer in LG…SEXY :giggedy

i dont think you really need to mod it. :confused

Thanks for all the welcomes…I wasn’t trying to come down hard on anyone particular …just the thought of all high end performance car drivers being described as rich boys with no understanding of the cars mechanical and electrics etc. was too much for this enthusiast. I still have to get out the bleach for my hands every Sunday night so they look good for my job during the week.
I would be glad to show the car to anyone who wants to see it…I drive it most days too work and to play. Rides…well I don’t object to that either , but I only go wild on the track or in the hills when I am alone…come to Watkins Glen some time for a DE and I’ll give you the ride of your life.
Yes I know Dan Jacobs, I used to race in the same class as he did before he quit to become full time mechanic, and a very fine one at that. He is a gentleman and will help any racer at the track weather there part of his customer base or just need the help(something you don’t find too often in PCA racing).
I understand what you are talking about BOXERSIX, some people don’t like too many driver aids. I used to own a 1971 240Z, then it was Datsun. Talk about basic…it had the manual choke between the seats. Owned that car for 19years …for 4 years of that time it was one heck of an SCCA racer. But those times are somewhat gone, the GT-3 has it’s aids even though there not anywhere as in depth as the GT-R. My race car is a basic carburetor, no ABS, trail brake it monster …and I do enjoy that also. But if you have had any experience on the track with a good performance car that has some of the new driver aids…WOW it is a whole new level to master…and it takes no less skill to get the MAX out of it(except everything happens MUCH quicker).
I have to admit that I am not as comfortable on the track with the driver aided car as I am with the basic type…but I always chalked it up to the fact that I was brought up on the basic sports cars and the new ones are making us as drivers change are approach to driving(try to trail brake a car that has ABS).

I guess i been a bit in the dark not knowing that all you enthusiasts existed until some one mentioned the other night that “Hey there talking about your car on shift518”???
It is real nice to be welcomed here, and even more important to see so much interest here locally(I think locally).
It doesn’t really matter what you drive(sure I believe that) just as long as you stay true to the beliefs of the car enthusiasts…now I sound like a jerk. Any way thanks for the welcome and I am available for looks or what ever. :wave
