The GM Recall *Now EVERY new-gen Camaro*

My grandmother’s boyfriend hated his '13 SRX awd from the day he bought it home. He traded it in on a '14 2wd SRX and loves it. He said the awd one rode like a truck and not like a Caddy.

He had a 2wd loaner when the fuel sending unit went in the awd one.

the GPS / stereo on my 2011 is garbage… and cannot be repaired. defaults to Washington DC, cannot save stations or set the time.

reading up on it they change the whole unit but even that doesnt necessarily fix it because so many of them in the supply chain are faulty to begin with.

power steering blew up on me on the highway in rural alberta… rear abs gone, rear hubs gone, spent like $5k on it in less than 12 months and still has issues…

Damn, I hope my Sierra doesn’t have issues like that.

“A new car built by my company leaves somewhere traveling at 60 mph. The rear differential locks up. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of vehicles in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don’t do one.”

fight club.

Bump for the Camaro guys:

GM just recalled every single current-generation Camaro – that’s 511,528 of them – because of an extremely similar problem to the one that has already killed more than a dozen people in Chevy Cobalts and other small cars.

[quote]GM is aware of three crashes that resulted in four minor injuries that it believes may be attributed to this condition.

GM Just Recalled All The Camaros Because Of Possible Ignition Failure

Wow… just wow.

I was just thinking this morning; car keys have been on the column in an almost identical position in relationship to the drivers knees since the 1950s… and NOW it’s become a problem?

What’s next, recalling cars because one of the pedals if pushed may cause the transmission to come out of gear and the driver will loose acceleration control?!???

This was sooo good

Such a joke that we bailed this pathetic company out.

The last 3 GM’s that I’ve owned have been push-to-start. Problem solved. Keys are so overrated

Iv’e heard this is why saab put the ignition in the center console area.

This is why…

We could have not bailed them out… but the domino effect would have been devastating to not only the US economy but the world. GM goes into liquidation, then the tier 1 suppliers, then tier 2 and 3 suppliers. The interconnectivity of things now a days is immense; one critical wheel fails, and the whole system self destructs. IE: see the reality behind the banking crisis and what likely would’ve happened if the Feds didn’t step in (Although in my personal opinion, this is still a huge risk to the world because there are still no risk limits that are truly in place to prevent the same situation from happening again; but I digress)

Spot on!

Wouldn’t surprise me… Especially with the “size” of the average american increasing exponetionally… what used to be the average size thigh of an American is now the average calf size; we went from a country of Michael Phelps/Cindy Crawford builds to Honey Boo-Boo’s Mom and Chris Farley!

Just about every/any company out there. Risk Vs Cost to fix/change. Business Management 101.

You were supposed to continue the quote! This is why we can’t have nice things.

<— :fail: Failed. (Need more coffee; and been arguing with dumb management here at work since I got in)

That video was pure gold…lol. I keep asking myself why did the government bail them out, should have let them squirm.

Personal GM experience

Trailblazer SS - yes it was fast, beyond that was in the shop with warranty repairs over 10 times during the 3 year lease. Seems like once they fixed one thing something else would break or fail. Was so happy to turn it back in when the lease was over. It was a fun truck, when it worked.

Wife’s 2012 Equinox LT - was great for the first 12 or so months, then turned into a pile of shit. Has been in the shop easily 15 times for check engine lights, replaced the cam shaft sensor 4 times. They finally found out it was an engine issue and spent a week in the shop getting repaired, was over $5k in costs but covered of course under warranty.
Needless to say we are trading it early and currently have a 2014 Explorer sitting in the driveway (take home test drive)…fit/finish/drive is outstanding.

I’ve had my Ford Thunderbird SC for over 15 years, beyond tires/brakes/oil/gas…not one thing wrong with it. My dad has had 7 F150’s (newest being a '13 Ecoboost) never in for repairs…none of them. My Raptor, its only a few weeks old but test drove every truck available, nothing even came close to matching it performance/quality/feature wise.

GM has a long way to go, it’s 2014…get the fuck out of the 90’s. End rant/

It’s OK, I was late to the party anyways!
