The Healthcare Reform Thread

Well, if they care at all about their employees well-being, they’re not going to drop them if they don’t have anywhere to go. Some companies have hearts, some are just bean counters that will squeeze out every dime they can especially in a recession.

I think it’s disingenuous of Obama to say “if you like your current health coverage, you can keep it” when there are situations that will likely cause some people to loose what they already have.

If we keep the status quo system though, they are MORE likely to lose their current coverage. “If you like your current health coverage, you can keep it” is at least as disingenuous if you were saying it arguing for our current system.
Sure there are situations where people will lose what they already have, but I would bet they will be decreased, and the ones that do happen won’t be because of the public option. Some companies may use it as an excuse, but it’s really due to their own cheapness, and at least they will be penalized more than they would doing it now.

I think any reasonable person knows the system has it’s flaws with what we have now. And whatever comes out of all of this will undoubtedly also have flaws. That’s just how these things work.

But the president can’t expect to fight misinformation with misinformation.

My point is that if the cost of the penalty is actually lower than the cost of paying for private insurance, is it really a penalty at all?

Valid point, but if it was much higher then the conservatives would be saying that he’s anti-business and he’s going to cost jobs. If he makes a hard ban on them dropping coverage, they say he’s interfering in private enterprise and that he’s a socialist. There’s always an argument no matter what he does. Ideally, the penalty is all of their workers bolt.

This guy makes Bush look honest. What a total dirtbag. This country is fucked.

Why did Wilson apologize for the truth? What a waste.

:blah:

^That’s all you can hear when your head is so far up President dirtbag’s ass.

You have your head so into hating this guy that he could propose a law that your business and only your business no longer has to pay any taxes, ever, and you’d bitch about it. Have you ever been in favor of anything he’s supported?

Why didn’t he mention the Cap And Trade rape tax that he expects to pay for this?
Did I miss that part?
That fact that they are are using the “green” bs to push their agenda makes my blood boil.

Is he factoring in the shrinking GDP with his cost estimates?

TOTAL BS.

That has nothing to do with health care.

You don’t honestly believe that.

Yes, I do. You should too, because it is the truth.

Wow.

Joe sounds like the type of person who would jump off a bridge just because Obama says, “there’s no net or anything to catch you, but trust me, you’ll be OK”

And I just have to laugh how he will save all these millions of dollars by “fixing” Medicare. If the gov’t can magically manage it so much better now to cut costs, why haven’t they before? Seems to me if it was that easy it would have already been done, but then again I didn’t go to Harvard Law School, so what do I know.

You guys sound like the type of people who would jump off a bridge because the government said it was dangerous.

Because I like to base my decisions based on common sense and actual math not make believe world??? Whatever, I’m through with this thread.

VA - FAIL
Medicaid - FAIL
Healthy NY - FAIL

…Do you see where this is going?

It’s funny how 90+% of this thread is arguing about the public option, which is a tiny part of the actual reform being proposed.

if they took out the public option, I would feel MUCH better about the bill…

I agree that A LOT needs to change about our current system

I just don’t see private insurance cost being controlled adequately without it.
