Not a userland exploit so opens the door for all 5.X support on the iPhone 4.
f-ucking-inally
Good stuff!
I’ve been running the tethered JB with the semi-tethered addon for over a month and it’s fine. The OS is stable so it’s not like it reboots at all. And even if it does you still get access to critical phone stuff until you can get to a computer and tethered boot.
Still, glad the untethered is finally almost here.
Untether and Siri port is out for the iPhone 4 (not 4S).
For untether, you can either use the new Redsn0w tool (http://www.multiupload.com/0Y3PDPA2BQ) or if you are already tethered on 5.0.1, you can install the exploit via Cydia.
Open the Cydia app on your tethered jailbroken device
Search for “Corona”
Hit the “Install” button (as shown in the screen grab below)
For Siri support, you need to know what you are doing. The Siri servers need a valid 4S key token. If you get someone with a 4S use a shared proxy, you can get a proxy up and running.

Apple has been known to blacklist devices who are abusing it so there isn’t a general auth token for everyone to use.
Done. Nice.
http://www.sinfuliphonerepo.com/ must be getting hammered, I can’t even save it as a source.
What are you guys using?
For those who want to take a crack at it, here is how my SiriProxy is setup for testing.
Standard Siri Command
And non standard
Less excited than I would normally be for this since the semi-tether app from bigboss has been working so well.
That said, I’m looking at the apple boot logo as I type this since the latest redsn0w JB is just finishing up
Wish I had a 4s key so I could play with the siri port. From the sounds of it once the 4s jailbreak comes out they’ll likely find a way around the need for the key anyway.
It isn’t a jailbreak on the 4S issue, they reversed engineered the siri protocol and when you talk it actually all gets sent to the Siri servers. No processing is done on the phone until the data comes back and its how Apple authenticates devices. I am waiting for them to expand on the Google Speech API and have that start automating stuff on the phone with responses.
As of right now, Spire has been deemed to be the best Siri port to use until the iPhone 4S jailbreak is publicly released. According to Steven Troughton-Smith, “when the iPhone 4S is jailbroken, then we can avoid the proxy server issues. For those of you who are still interested in downloading Spire for your jailbroken iOS 5 devices, you can do so by hitting the link below:
Yeah, I misread it this morning. Sounds like once the 4s is jailbroken they’re expecting to find a way to do this without the proxy server, but you’ll still need a 4s key.
Ya Spire is how mine is setup. I just have the proxy because I am playing around with custom commands. You can use someones token and go right to Siri but since Apple has banned devices for abusing it, they haven’t post a certain key to use for everyone.
Man, cydia has been just awful since the untethered JB was released. Must be getting hammered.
Ya I have been downloading Debs manually for the time being for anything I needed to install. With the untethered package and the Cydia update, its being hammered.
Is there a hacked version of intelliscreenx? I bought lockinfo and I’m pretty much done paying for apps through cydia because of the horrible track record of developers not updating for iOS updates. I’ve purchased all my app store apps except the tomtom one.
Go to the xsellize forums and add the xsellize repo.
The other issue in having is lack of iOS 5 apps/hacks. Most of the existing hacks don’t work on 5.
Like what? Everything I have used on iOS4 has been ported over on iOS5 or there is alternatives
The one I miss is autosilent. It let me set schedules for all the notifications sounds. Since I dropped home phone service I would have my phone silence everything but the ringer at night so emergency calls could still wake me up, but I wouldn’t have to listen to email and txt notifications all night.
I’m installing b3 right now… maybe that was my problem.
Yup, b1 sucked.
Ok, so essential apps/hacks for you guys?
