THE **iPhone** Thread (GPS, JailBreak, Apps, Etc)

They always ship signature required so I hope someone will be there.

I gotta figure out when mine is getting shipped. My billing address is in Rochester so I will need to meet them or pick it up at the shipping center.

On the apple website you can electronically sign for the package b4 it gets delivered. You can also edit the shipping addy after you place the order to your current location.

No voice and data at the same time for Verizon and Sprint, even if you’re on LTE

NOBODY NEEDS VOICE AND DATA AT THE SAME TIME.

Well, actually I’ve never felt the need. Maybe if I was a chick who yaps on the phone all the time?

I can count a few times that it worked in my favor using both at the same time. Iv got a phone call from my mother asking if i could look up something for her, said sure put her on speaker and looked up what she needs of the internet. No needing for her to tell me what she needs write it all down then call her back.

you are late to the party with that, I posted about that above

The issue is certainly insignificant to me, but I am sure that someone will chime in with some case.

Frankly, I talk on the phone so little that I probably don’t even need voice lol. Everyone just texts now.

^+ Yep, If I go through 20 minutes of talk a month, that’d be a shitload.

Same with my family plan. 4 phones, 700 anytime minutes on the plan, use almost 30 minutes a month. 5000 texts on average though.

Never been on the line with someone and needed to look up something, say an address to meet up?

I only seem to end up using voice and data at the same time when I’m in the field for work. It isn’t often, but it comes in very handy when it happens.

Of the 300-400 minutes each month I use, I spend at least 1/2 of the time doing something else on my phone while on the call. Most people don’t but its a must have for people that do so.

Sure it’s useful when you need it, but you need to

  1. Be on the phone
  2. Need data for something
  3. Not have a wifi connection
  4. Not be sitting in front of a computer

For some that probably happens all the time. For me it’s almost never. Like NFC, I probably wouldn’t notice if I didn’t have simultaneous voice and data.

just updated to ios6 golden master… no HUGE upgrade but its smooth and fast…

Location would be Cali lol.

I use it a lot especially with work.

If your job requires you to respond quickly to email and you’re already on a long call for work, voice + data is a godsend. I’ve received emails in just this fashion that I’ve read over a conference call and have changed the direction of the call.

Having a client ask me a question and responding with “give me one second” is WAY better than responding with “I don’t know, let me call you back on that one.”

I should also mention that I don’t sit at a desk in an office during the day when these situations might arise.

But if you’re a 16 year old girl, I guess it’s not as important

It’s fairly rare for anyone to call me. However, when it does happen, it’s usually some big emergency and I need to look something up immediately. It would be really unproductive if I had to hang up every time I wanted to use data, and it would make what could be a somewhat easy 2 minute call a really frustrating ordeal.

More often than not, if someone calls me, I need data. I could see this being a serious point of frustration for the majority who are not aware of these limitations.

Don’t we all get tired of these circular arguments? There is no one size fits all answer.

I don’t like huge phones and don’t ever need a removable battery - so those points never go anywhere with me.

Others feel they are needed.

Same with voice/data, same with NFC.

I use V/D, I don’t suffer not having NFC.

The other one people are bringing up now are the LTF chips/frequencies, quite frankly, even when I traveled to Europe frequently, I rarely (if ever) even used my 3g data. I always stayed on WiFi (and I lived in europe for almost 6 months). Its just paper racing with phones. Pick the one you like. When people ask opinions or facts, reply in kind with the appropriate information.

The same cycle seems to go on constantly, we all make our own decisions on what we want, does arguing really change anyones opinion on which is better? We can all predict what camp you’re in. If you use it, its great, if you don’t, it unnecessary.

That said, I ordered the 5, I got up at 5am to do it, and still won’t get it until Oct. lol

no one needs a computer at home!

speaking as a former employee, MOST droids are FAR more profitable than iphones. plus, vzw sets goals for 4G% activations/upgrades. They dont want to sell 3g models.

also speaking as a former employee, initially the iphones made at most $30 profit, and a lot of times we lost money on them. Once they increased the comp on them, I had all my guys pushing the crap out of them. They sold themselves, they almost NEVER came back for defects, apple handled the warranty, and they were an easy sell for accs/insurance. they were an inventory killer (each 16GB hit me for over $600) but we sold thousands of them.
