The Michigan Mile... Standing mile event; who's going?

Anybody planning on going?

July 4-6 this year

6 hours away, that’s actually REALLY good compared to distances I’ve looked into.

I’ll seriously consider it!

The event claims 100,000 spectators when everything I can find about the first event (in 2013) shows nothing remotely close to that… YouTube videos all show spectators from the air show and fair that happened the same day.

:gotme:

It is the same weekend as the air show so I am sure they are counting that attendance

If you plan on hitting 190+ roll cage and other goodies are required
http://themichiganmile.com/wordpress/home-2/official-rules/

Also read on the detroit car forum that there is a 140mph police escort on the way from the hotel to the airport

I’ve always wanted to do a standing mile event. But July 4th weekend? No way, too much stuff going on around here.

You can :beer2: at a cabin on Lake Michigan instead of central NY

For anyone wanting to actually run their car…the safety standards are pretty strict. From Fire suppression to parachute to seats to harnesses and cages.

Most of the rules are based on the speed and not just across the board.

I don’t want to run my car. I want to watch some of these cars though.

Uhg…

This Corvette went out of control and struck another car, injuring the other driver, during Sunday’s Michigan Mile drag racing event

And he did it on the RETURN not on his mile run. :ham:

Believe it or not Josh, I care more about the people than the alcohol and food being served. hahaha. July 4th is forever off limits for me.

Solution: bring them along :highfive:

Haha, zero chance.

Who hacked MPD’s account???

This is true but good people with good booze is epic win

I entered to run a bike, so the safety rules are a bit different. I will be pleased if I can run at least 180+mph though

Hmm… I should put in a lower gear and run a 30" tire.

I don’t really know anything about these, but what is considered a “fast” mph for a car?

Hell yeah.

Just a quick peak from a list on 6speedonline:

That Eddie Bello Porsche is awesome.

It’s amazing to me that people still give that guy props after going to jail for his participation in this:

MOUNT VERNON: STOLEN PORSCHE RING – A race car driver was among three Mount Vernon businessmen arrested over the weekend on charges related to auto theft, the Westchester County district attorney’s office said yesterday. District Attorney Jeanine F. Pirro said Eddie Bello, 35, a drag racer of Porsches, stocked Porsche engine parts with defaced vehicle identification numbers at his auto body shop, while two other repair shop owners had parts and entire cars – including Porsches – that appeared to be stolen.

Any car let alone a P-car that does wheelies is sweet to me at least. I don’t care about the owner or what he does/did.

Also, that was from 2001.

Ill come cheer you on. Skirt and palm palms. And a beer helmet.

Would be cool to do… I’m already doing 160 by the 1st 1/4 mile, and have maybe 1-1200 rpm left… I would think im good for 190 now, but with less gear and taller tire Who knows, I would have to do the math. would be a cool experience for sure.

Idk about doing 160+ on skinnies in a mustang in an event like this

100+ in a foxbody is risky in itself… meh, I will just shoot for 170 in the 1/4
