Unlikely a fuel issue… get a cheap pressure gauge… the end of your stock fuel rail has a place for it!
Try the new plugs 1st. Irridiums are not the best for the LS1… and tr6 is too cold in my opinion, for N/A.
I havent read the whole thread, and will when I get time, and comment back. Check you harness closely for a ground issue etc.
tr55’s here
sounds like you might be running rich, My car ran pig rich when it wasnt tuned and it hiccuped here and there, wait4me performance is a great deal, just had mine done there and everything runs great, and no more SES lights
Wait… you did mods and no tune yet… rich you may be! Just go get a Tune. I have EFI Live, but your better off going to a dyno in my opinion. I like DEZ Racing in Seakonk Ma., heading there myself in a week or two to get a base tune with my new motor… if ya wanna go, let me know.
like i saud before get a set of delco plugs in it and start there doubtfull its fuel unless its to much skippin under load is 9 outta 10 times secondary ignition i/e plugs coil or wire get the champions out and get the delcos in ;D
His car still gets shitty mileage, but I think it’s because he’s running a hotcam.
he was skippin before mods not only after :nod
BTW: I know it’s not as good as HPTuners or EFI live but if you want to use my Predator to take a look at what’s going on it wouldn’t be a problem. We’d be able to tell if it’s running rich or if it’s seeing any knock etc pretty quickly/easily. I’ll shoot you a PM.
i got a modis ftw can see everything and kill injectors or coils i can do what i want but tune wit it ;D
The misfire started the day before I put my long tubes on…
only mods I did was hooker long tubes, and ORY…I have 2 out of the 4 o2 sensors hooked up…The other 2 (after the cats on stock Y pipe) We shut off with my buddys HP Tuners
We did do some tuning with HP Tuners…advanced timing 1*, shut some codes off and some other little things. We didnt get into fuel tuning because i didnt want to start touching my fuel trims if I really do have a serious misfire…then it will screw everything up. We will do fuel tuning once the misfire is fixed (we have a LC1 wide band too)
As far as dyno tune, with just bolt ons it would help, but honestly I dont think its worth it yet to go spend the $500+ to have it done when in the future I plan on adding some LS6 heads and a cam.
when can I pick them up?? where abouts do you live??
:+1 :bunny
wait4me is a pcm tune for 75 bucks, i think its def worth it
Im in rotterdam, off of altamont ave, whenever you wanna swing by let me know.
A tune always “helps” but if your doing h/c, I see your point.
Its a little strange that it is only picking up a missfire on #5. If it were bad set of spark plugs or too cold/hot a heat range, or if it were way too rich/lean it would usually set a random multiple misfire code “P0300”
that doesnt justify not getting it tuned, just because you are doing heads/cam in the future doesnt mean you dont tune now. Like i said there are much cheaper alternatives then dynotune, but to just not get it tuned is rediculous, your probably leaving so much on the table, and your car is obviously running like shit as is, so why make it worse and now get it tuned?
these are some pcm tuned places that i have delt with and all have been great, for the price its a no brainer
and thats a usually code on cars with LT’s
yah I know this…but the car runs way too smooth/quiet for it to be a burnt up valve, broken valve spring/bent push rod…and theirs no blow by in cylinder 5 because the plug is brown…it would be pitch black…
maybe you missed what I was getting at…Jammer knew what I was talking about
Im not gonna go pay 500$ for a dyno tune for bolt on’s when Im gonna be putting a head/cam package on the car in the future…so Then I would hafto start all over on the tune again…
Also, I will not be sending out my PCM to get a tune. I have heard bad things about that and good things. Not my cup of tea. I would rather tune it myself to actually know whats going on instead of having my PCM hooked up to a computer and people “guessing” what fuel needs to be added/removed…timing needs to be adjusted etc…
maybe someday youll find your car and start working on it ;D
